Polish Chocolate in an Indian Market….

Arsenal 3, Sunderland 1

: )

After the mess that is inventory, things at work can breathe……just a little bit easier I guess.  I doubt I’ll ever get to work 43 hours two consecutive weeks and not get chewed out for it lol.  And that money is quite badly needed too.

So I decided to go on another adventure today.  I numbered off areas and threw a dart at my board.  The first one suggested I visit the wall I guess.  Missed the entire board by a foot.  Second said Frisco, but it just didn’t sound like a Frisco day for me.  I wanted to go exploring.  So I went with Irving, home of just about everything to make me happy.

First stop: A Salvation Army thrift store.  Nothing in the way of pics here, but there were a lot of Barry Manilow Christmas albums and an electric organ/piano/whatever.  I’d give it a rating of average.  Nothing to detract the experience, enough stuff to keep me interested, but nothing that screamed "take a picture!"

Second stop was a hispanic grocery store……..with signs in Korean?  Haven’t seen that one before, so I was immediately interested. Sure enough, when dried seaweed is next to the panaderia (bakery) goods, it was confirmed:  this was half hispanic, half korean.  : )   Oh my, this was a gem!  It was literally split in half between the two which was really cool.

Oh, these are panaderia goods (the best things ever!)

And I think this best exemplified the spirit of the store

Mexican spicy flavored ramen wheat crackers.  Thought about buying it, but I felt spicy shrimp chips would go better with my sandwich for football tomorrow.

After that was a dollar general where I found some cookies I have been looking for lately without success, then off to another thrift store, one that has a good art selection.

Taken at an odd angle since it was in a stack of paintings.  If I had room at this point, I would have seriously thought about buying it.  I’m pretty much just waiting for something that’s a wow, and not just a really cool, because my walls are full by now.

No, not a little bit country; all city here, but still thought it was cute.

The final stop was an Indian market, of which I have only been to one in particular, and decided to try a different one (there are a few in Irving).  The one I have been to before was in Richardson, where I lived when I discovered it, and I really don’t know why I never expanded beyond that one place.  I’m really glad I checked this place out.  A much larger selection of frozen foods, which I can’t botch cooking and still experience the food (and restaurants are just not something I can do very frequently on my budget).  So now I have about a week’s worth of Indian food which will make for a very happy culinary Jamesy.

While in line for checkout, I perused the candy bars and, while I can’t read Polish, I can recognize it almost immediately.

And sure enough, it was.

I also know the word czekoladzie (chocolate)

And now, I get to kick back with chicken, black beans, rice, and garlic naan bread, with a few glasses of wine.

With football tomorrow, this is going to be a good weekend.  : )

What an awesome entry. I get excited about different kinds of supermarkets too, and I love buying random products I have no idea about just to try them. Hispanic and Korean? Sounds like a pretty tasty fusion of food! It’s good to know someone else in the world gets as excited about these things as I do, haha.

haha, the photo, when I was looking at it, I thought it was a dent in a car, and was trying to figure out what the cookies had to do with a dent in the car, or why you would want to take a dented car that you took a picture of at an angle. It took me a minute to figure out. 🙂
