Frustrated by Morons

I know that the only time I write in here is when I am mad, angry, and/or disgusted.  Maybe I’ll be able to come up with a positive entry–just not right now.

I work with morons.  People that cannot do anything beyond what is spoon-fed to them.  I have shown them how to do their jobs.  I have explained it up one side and down the other.  I have given them resources.  I’m nice to them.  That’s probably a mistake, but we are a small staff and it is much easier to support one another.

I want people to use their brains.  Be forward thinking.  To take ownership.  One gal has been here a year and still needs handholding.  She can’t even write a letter.  Seriously.  She writes with ebonics.  We only let her do cut and paste letters–and even then I have to check over them.  One of the boys (ok, he’s 23) claims to be interested in political service/constituent service, but when he actually has to do something, he whines, bitches and complains.

I will grant you that we work for someone that isn’t always appreciative of our efforts–he really does need constant hand-holding.  HOWEVER, this is a situation where he is the legislator.  This is how it is.  He is not going to change, so we have to learn to dance around it.  I do my fair share of bitching about the man, but I also sit in the hot seat and bear the most burden.  And I never let it effect my work.

My young co-worker always questions why he/we should do what we do.  Because that is what you are paid to do.  If you don’t like it, leave.  I once told him that I was not aware of any job that would allow him to come in late 3 days a week and leave early 2 days a week so that he could go to school.  He doesn’t have to skip lunch or lose money.  He gets incredible health benefits.  And no one breathes down his neck or fusses at him.  I can only guess that he is just inherently lazy.

I am tired of having to spoon feed every single task for him.  I am tired of having to check up on his every task because he’ll do it half assed.  I came into this office when it first opened.  We had nothing in place and I had NO training.  I used my brain.  He will ask me how I learned so much—I told him because I had to.  He seems annoyed when people call in and ask for help.  HELLO—that’s what we are here for.

And I cannot fire him.  One would believe it would be within the realm of my position.  Yeah, not so much.  You have to jump through hoops.  And it wouldn’t look so great for our member to fire a 3rd person in one term.  They boy DOES have good qualities, however the bad overshadow the good right now.  I have worked hard to try to inspire him.  To be a cheerleader for him.  He just has no motivation.  He can’t even get to the office by 8:30 every day.  And he lives right down the street.  He’ll roll in about 8:40 with a story about oversleeping and he had to run to Wawa for breakfast.  Am I the only one that sees something wrong here?  If you overslept, skip Wawa and come straight to work so that you get to be on time.  He goes to the post office by 10 am every day anyway, he can swing by Wawa then.  I don’t know if he has had one week that he has been on time every single day.  And he takes every single minute of his hour lunch and is out the door at 5:00 every day.

And he has the nerve to wonder why the other fellow that started at the same time as him is leaps and bounds in front of him.  Hmmm…let’s see….because he makes an effort.  He can think for himself.  He is on top of everything.  He comes up with new ideas on his own.

It hurts me to say negative things about the boy because I really do like him, I just want him to do more, to do his job.  And not wait to be spoon fed every task.  I’m far too busy to spoon feed him.  Something has to give.

Ok, I have to say something positive.  I’m going to Orlando in May.  At little Disney, a little Universal, and lots of sun.  Then in June I’m getting implants.  NO, not new boobs—lordy, I have enough with 44DD’s.  Eye ball implants.  Instead of LASIK surgery, I’m having Visian implant lenses.  It’s kinda freaky that they cut your eye and insert a lens inbetween your iris and your cornea.  YIKES.  I’ve gone over all of the pro’s and con’s.  And I am the ideal candidate.    So that is my positive for the day.

Geez, I won’t even put a contact lens on my eye, never mind INSIDE it.

Unfortunatley, I think that MOST of the work force is more like your little boy. I haven’t hired anyone in the last five years that can show up on time to work – and they ALL think it’s unreasonable to expect them too! I had one that left for lunch and NEVER CAME BACK. She fell asleep. And she gave me ATTITUDE the next day when I asked what happened to her.

This eye surgery sounds interesting, but I’ve never heard of it. I HAVE heard of implanting lenses after cataract surgery…. is this the same thing?

Universal was awesome, and Dudley’s was probably my favorite ride of the day! You’ll have a blast. 🙂 Hmm, lens implants. Must go check that out…
