!@#$%^!!!!
I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo stinking pissed off right now it isn’t even funny.
My boss just called from an event he is attending to let me know that he was told by the organizers that we didn’t RSVP for him. I’ll back up—this man is sooooo wiggy about his schedule. He needs to know everything before he walks into a room. I wouldn’t be surprised if he asked me to find out the color of the drapes—that’s how particular he is. I get very anal about his schedule (I am the scheduler). So when he called to say we hadn’t RSVP’d—I freaked. Fortunately I have 2 emails that I sent to the organizer stating that he would be attending—-that she responded to—-that should save my butt. However, my boss is also not the sharpest tack and he’ll still hold it against me. He won’t BLAME me, but I’ll still pay.
What really burns my grits is that I KNOW the organizer. I know her. And I’m going to chew her a new one the next time I see her.
I work for a very difficult man. He is seemingly a very pleasant person and not demanding. The problem is that he is MR. MAGOO. He walks around oblivious to everyone and everything, except for himself. Instead of putting staff members numbers into his cell phone, he’ll call me on a Saturday afternoon asking for them. I sent him a phone message via email letting him know that "John Doe" called and provided the number. His response? How do you spell "John’s" last name. Ummmmm, scroll down a$$hole??????? I have given him messages on several occasions where I have personally relayed the message, written it down for him, and sent it via email only for him to blast me for not telling him. And when confronted with the various ways that he WAS informed, then he changes his tune that I didn’t "keep it in front of him". Yes, this is an elected official. And I endure all of this 24/7 for a mere pittance.
So when everyone picks on government employees and our holidays, just remember we make NOTHING and many of us are on call for our members 24/7. My job does NOT end. It follows me. I can’t even be rude in public if I wanted to—someone might recognize me as one of his staffers and that would reflect badly upon him. Not that I would be rude, but I think twice before I do or say anything.
OY. Hope your day gets better. Don’t you just HATE having a boss that you have to cater to 24/7 … especially when they are like him?

That does stink! I’m lucky enough to have a very sweet boss, but the same goes for not-for-profits. We have to be very careful about what we say to whom on our personal time. I work in the same county as I live so double careful!

RYN: I will have to try that next time 😀
