Awesome.*

My alarm never went off, this morning, for some unfathomable reason.  I had lab at 8am and woke up at 7:50am.  It takes me close to an hour to get to class, and driving probably would have taken just as long, if not longer, due to morning city traffic, so there was no way I’d have made it before the class even ended.

It’s stressed by professors that if we’re ever running late or are going to miss class, we have to call the department and tell them, which I did.  However, in the syllabus for every one of my classes, it states that if your absence is unexcused (not a valid reason), your final grade for that class will be deducted an entire letter grade.  It even says in one of the syllabi specifically that oversleeping is one of the things that is unexcused.

A single absence from class deducts a full letter grade.  When I called, I was told that it would be counted as unexcused.

So much for the straight A’s I’d been working toward.  Would’ve gotten a mid to high A in the class, too.

Edit:  Turns out the secretary I spoke to is just an emotional stone wall and I’ll just have the participation/data collection points taken off of this week’s lab.  Slightly better than an entire letter grade off of the class.  Ever so slightly… *RELIEF*

Ugh. That’s ridiculous!

Sheesh! I hate when schools have really rigid guidelines like that. Do they just expect their students to be superhumans who never make any mistakes? Ridiculous.
