Nerdy and Proud
So, I’ve been known to enjoy nerdy things quite a bit. And, I’m proud of that, because nerdy things are awesome n’ shit (and, for all nerdy/geeky folks out there who are judged and teased for simply being amazing, as a fellow nerd/geek OD friend of mine recently spoke of, I say, stand tall and keep doing what you do, and be happy about that….haters gon’ hate, yo).
That being said, I’ve been on a book and game kick, these days. The other day, I stumbled upon a site that sells weaponry while searching for Assassin’s Creed gear (I’ve gotten into liking AC quite a bit, lately) and found a fully functional replica of Ezio’s sword.
Here be the sword
By sometime in September, that sword will be hanging on the wall of my living room, above my tv. Oh, it shall. It shall. I just think it’s so awesome. I also want Arya’s sword (the Needle) from Game of Thrones, but I may have to wait awhile on that one (these things get pricey, especially when you start compiling them). I also saw a couple of incredible AC costumes, but, sadly, the base costume alone, without any extras, is $600. *sad panda* I’d totally make a fabulous female assassin! I did cave and order a replica of Desmond’s hoodie through Ubi, though, although shipping won’t even begin until October 28th *impatience*.
Other various nerdy pursuits include a desire to pre-order Star Wars: The Old Republic, another desire to learn ukulele, recent t-shirt purchases, wanting to obtain a good-quality dress for the Ren Faire, and a very, very long list of books I’ve been reading/planning on reading. Right now, I’m on the Game of Thrones series. I’ve been having a love affair with Game of Thrones since watching the first season of the tv series.
So, I guess I’ve made this public to sort of seek out other people who like these same sorts of things. I’ve been keeping just about all of my entries friends-only for awhile, and that limits my ability to make new friends quite a bit. I actually wouldn’t even label myself as a nerd or geek, because I don’t really believe in labels. There are certain things I like, and others I don’t, and I feel it’s unfair to be stereotyped and expected to like everything nerdy. I’ve got nerd in me. I’ve got geek in me. I’m a huge dork. But, I like other things, too. Really, I’m a little bit of everything, and that makes me unique, and I really like that about myself.
So, who’s out there?
🙂
Warning Comment
Guess I’m a nerd in the sense that I watch anime and read manga religiously. I think it’d be cool to go to a Ren Faire in cosplay..because, ninja’s actually date back to around the 12th century.
