TSotFH Ch.4

 

He walked among the scarred ashes of what was supposed to be one of the happiest nights of his life. The sky was a mix of black, orange, and red. Smoke billowed out from several buildings as he proceeded down the sidewalk, alone, and devoid of any reasonable senses. He couldn’t tell it was day time or night time..there were horrible, unnerving howls coming from out in the distance. They seemed to follow the boy. To taunt him. He just kept walking into the misty desolation, searching for some sort of manageable shelter.

Eventually he found a half torn apart house. Its bright red paint torn away. The boy found his way inside, and sat down. He felt an overwhelming sense of loneliness here…the destruction, the emptiness. It picked apart at one’s sanity. Suddenly, he noticed something by his foot. A charred photograph of three people – a man, woman, and child. The man and woman were smiling. The child’s face was burned away. He had black shaggy hair.

A sudden wave of melancholy came over the boy. It reminded him of better times…
