Isn’t This Over Yet?

Dear Diary,

One day last week I walked into the house and first thing I noticed was that all the new kitchen cabinet doors were missing.  I didn’t think there was thief loose in the neighborhood so I wasn’t alarmed.  But I asked Stephen – one of the men working on the job and the brother of our friend who is the general contrator –  if he knew where they were.  He replied that the painter came in, took them off their hinges and loaded them in the back of his truck.  Didn’t say anything but Stephen surmized that he was taking them to brother’s workshop to work on them.  Strange…because said painter had specifically asked contractor to hang the dang things so he could do all the staining in one place.  At the time of the request, the contractor remarked  to me, with a chuckle, that he thought painter was trying to buy some time and he was just going to comply with the request ASAP.  He installed them on a Saturday.

So….when contractor returned from a special meeting last Friday he found cabinet doors and all supplies lined up neatly in the workshop.  He called me on Saturday to say that he had a feeling something was going on and he’d let me know.   On Monday morning I got the call.  The  painter walked off the job!  If this wasn’t such a blessing I’d be really pissed off!

Bless Tim’s heart.  Tim, the contractor, has been so apologetic about the entire painter mess.  He’s got someone coming tomorrow to finish the job.  Someone reliable he assures me.

I’m really trying to be patient.  But…

…isn’t this over yet?
