Essays

I really need help, these essays are going to be the death of me. I’m getting ready to apply to graduate school and the essays I’m being asked are so far out of this world. What are your best qualities? Of course you don’t want to sound overly confident, but then again you don’t want to sound insecure. There needs to be a healthy balance, none of that I’m a good friend and I give good advice stuff either. They want hardcore attributes, they want 500 words about me without me sounding self-centered and insecure. They also want to know my career progress to date. What have I done to move me towards my goals? I haven’t!!! I’ve  been working trying to afford school so I can’t very well make any real progress. Can you offer any advice?

Just try not to focus too much on it too much. When I applied to grad school, I took it and myself too seriously. But when all was said and done, I realized I was worthy and that all they (grad applications) wanted to see if I was open enough to discuss something as difficult as myself and intelligent enough to put it on paper. Nothing earth shaking 😉 Hang in there.

Write two draft essays. One where you depict that you are completely confident and another where you show the insecurities. Blend them to reality and viola you are done. Good Luck..

Idea. If you are working yourself through college, it shows that you alot of perseverance, and a will to succeed that doesn’t stop for anything. Maybe the fact that you push on with work and school will work, because Lord knows it’s essentailly two full time jobs. Mark
