more lessons from the fire

 

TAKE JOY IN THE TRUTH

most of the time life hands us things and the lessons (gifts) that are not apparent at the time

my son lost his home in a fire but escaped along with his family unharmed

it was easy to see that the people were the important thing and the stuff was just that

stuff

what i did not know, was that there was more to learn

several days later my son told me he could not sleep

he was concerned something might happen to his family during the night

this is a reasonable feeling to have

but it looses sight of a more subtle truths

the smoke was so dense when he and his wife were getting out he had trouble finding the door

another two minutes, maybe less and they would not have escaped

too many things went RIGHT for it to be a coincidence

if his family was not meant to be here

they would not be here today
