the email almost broke my heart

i began to think of all the ways

this friend had touched my life

 and others

and that thought

made me realize

 how rich i am

for you cannot loose what you never had

and i was gifted with friendship

and all of life is ever changing

and flowing like some mighty river to the sea

and maybe there in that ocean still so far away

(or not we never know)
