Malaise of springtime days

I still haven’t quite figured this one out. I have absolutely nothing to do these days, and yet I do absolutely nothing. It makes a little too much linear sense. This is the reason deadlines and time pressures exist. People need these constructs to act in a temporally rational way. Take today for example. I woke up at 11AM. I ate a bowl of cereal while reading my various websites/news/etc. Then I did my laundry that I was too lazy to do last night. By the time I was done with laundry it was around 2:45 or 3. I had fooled around the internet that whole time, and made a quick salad for a snack as well. I wrote a couple of emails back and forth with my dad and aunt, trying to plan a family get-together for this weekend. Then somehow it was 4, and I was already getting a little hungry, so I decided to forego the gym to hit the grocery store and re-stock for the next couple of days. I got back around 5 with groceries in hand, and wanted to get the chicken marinated so in the fridge it went, and dinner was officially on the clock. I made nominally a 3 course meal, with: toasted rosemary focaccia bread sprinkled with some italian cheese, a spinach salad with green pepper, roma tomatoes and cucumbers with ranch dressing, chicken marinated in italian dressing with some asian rice. After I ate and put away all the dishes, it was probably 7. It’s now 11:30. In these past 4.5 hours i watched some TV, messed around the internet more, and…. that’s it. I am still planning on watching a movie, and by the time it’s done i’ll probably tool around the internet a little more then go to sleep. I think if you want an example of "inefficiency" it couldn’t be better stated. Let’s recap….

No job, but didn’t look for a job. Didn’t go to the gym. Didn’t do anything social. It was a total waste of a day. And this is more or less my standard day. Too be fair, I do go to the gym most days, and usually do social stuff a couple of days a week, but still. It’s not very inspiring.

What kind of a job are you looking for? Chef, it sounds like!

Ah.. pleasure vs. money and power. The classic dicotomy. But your dinner did sound yummy. You could probably cook.. or chef. Is cooking different than like good cooking? I mean, they call the guy at Mickey D’s flipping burgers a chef…

If it makes you feel any better, I’m sitting here with a list of nine assignments (including two online tests) that need to be completed before next Friday. I know I won’t do them on the weekend because we have our boy on the weekends. I still haven’t found a caterer or a wedding dress or even began to think of getting flowers together for my wedding which should all be done already….

and instead of me actually doing something productive with my day, I’m sitting here on the Internet. I didn’t wake up at 7 as I planned. Instead I rolled out of bed at 8 when a caterer called to set up an appointment for next Tuesday. HOPEFULLY, I’ll find some sort of motivation and begin doing something today.
