Through the Fire and the Flames We Carry On

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

I went to work early yesterday and got off early; ended up going to the Brother-in-Law’s boss’ house for Thanksgiving dinner.  I guess Thomas (B-i-L) was talking to Maili about going a week or so back and she said that she didn’t want to go, and wanted to spend that evening with Mom and me instead, so to cut out the competition, Thomas asked his boss if my mom and I could come to dinner too.  I like the boss’ wife, although I didn’t talk to him much.  To be honest, I didn’t talk to anyone very much, aside from my family.  I did talk with a 14-year-old about video games.  … god that’s sad… The only high point I can think of in conversation was talking to a guy that was little more than half my age.  Oh well. ::snicker:: At least I have fun.

I did get some writing done while at the party, and I did a bit more when I got home, but I didn’t get finished with the story until today.  Well, to be honest, I’m not done with the _story_ yet, but I am done with the NaNo part.  ::grin:: As of 8:00 today, I am at 50,092 words.  Yeah.  Winner is me!

I still have a few scenes that I want to finish writing down, basicly just winding up the story, and then I’m putting it aside for a few weeks before going back to it with non-tired eyes.  I’m not looking forward to editing… I’ve never been good at that and am looking for any suggestions from anyone who’s done a lot of editing.

Other than that, there’s not much going on… I was going to do a big rant about this being Native American Heritage Day and about how my job really does a lot to make me at least appear to be racist; working at a Tribal Casino and having to deal with the double standards and all, but I find I really don’t care.  And that kind of bugs me… I don’t know whether it’s better to be apathetic about the situation or irked about it.  I’ll figure it out sometime or another.

The weather change has really hit me hard… I’m so tired and I’ve been tired this whole week even though I slept through one whole day practicly and haven’t been staying up too late.  This weekend I’m going to work on the quilt pieces that I promised my aunt I would finish and send to her, and probably do some gaming and whatnot.  God it feels good not to have to remember to put time aside for writing; not that I’m going to give up on that… one thing that NaNoWriMo reminded me of was the fact that I really do enjoy writing and I may be good at it, or at least, not bad.
