~ And so I jumped.
Before the loss of data here, I had drafts, revisions and screen shots of the evolution of this poem. I write off line first, but am not going to repost the revisions.
That would be like rerunning a reality show.
Anyway, some recent dreams called me to dig it back up. I’ve made a few tweaks, and I feel it’s as done as it will get. For now, that is. Done enough to eat, but still reheat-able.
(Set you toaster ovens to low for 4 minutes.)
Once, a friend
noticed I get hurt
only when my feet leave the ground.
If toes could dig like roots…
Love was breathing
your sky’s ideas;
growing in my ground
of reality.
Trees exhale deep into earth;
sweat water into sky.
Sway, but never move.
Love’s turned.
It’s sustained wake ripples
orphaned emotions
against the banks of my skin.
I will stand, defend.
Plant soles firmly,
Earth’s mass solid beneath,
ready to absorb shock waves.
Holes pierce inside
as paindrops storm through.
I could never stretch tall enough
to reach your fantastic sky.

I always love your writings …. BTW is it microwaveable *wink*

Maybe I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating…very nice. I love the imagines. There is quite a choice, each time, of whether to leave the toes on the ground planted or to fly, isn’t there? May you find the right choice. bmh
