Movies and boredom
So, bored. Really wasn’t sure how to get through the day but now it’s over and it went by fairly quickly.
Watched The African Queen today. Haven’t seen it for awhile. Now watching Grease. Took a nap earlier. Really need to do more. When I woke up 10 Things I Hate About You was on and I don’t remember choosing it. It is first on my recordings though so I wonder if after Queen it just started up playing in order.
Hopelessly In Love With You on right now. Amazing how old she was and playing a teenager.
Have always liked John Travolta. Except this one movie I watched recently where he was the villain. Just didn’t ring true. Lol
Boiled eggs today in my new egg cooker. Well, actually didn’t boil, but made hard boiled eggs. I like hard boiled eggs dipped into mayonnaise. Kinda like easy egg salad. Lol
I think I mentioned that the theatre chain I work for entered into a preferred hiring agreement with a grocery chain. I applied and nothing happened. Well, found out it just isn’t me. Other people haven’t heard back either. So much for preferred hiring.
Wish we could all play games with each other to pass the time. Any ideas? Of course I could finish my screenplay. Maybe work on that tomorrow.
Grease Lightning on now. Hmmmm
I rent a small 2 bedroom, one bath home in central Phoenix. It’s made of stones and reminds me of an Irish cottage without the thatch roof. Anyway, I love it. Also on the property are two separate apartments. One 2 bedroom and a one bedroom. The girl who lives in the one bedroom orders out a lot and I wish she would include in her address that she lives in the far back as they always try to deliver to me. Happened again today and I was dozing. The other unit is a 30 something couple with a little girl. They keep coming and going. Just heard them come home again. Geez
Well hugs to all. Hang in there. Serious about playing games, so…

The African Queen is a great movie, though I haven’t seen it in years. It’s screenplay was written by an author named James Agee, who died much too young. Agee wrote my favorite book (though I haven’t revisited it in years) called A Death in the Family. It was published after his death and incorporates another work, Knoxville, Summer of 1915. Both are beautifully written pieces, lyrical language that you don’t just don’t see anymore. Composer Samuel Barber used the text of Knoxville, Summer of 1915 for a beautiful piece for soprano and orchestra of the same name. A Death in the Family was also made into a play called, All the Way Home. Agee also wrote another book called Let Us Now Praise Famous Men documenting life during the depression with photos by Walker Evans. Jimmy Carter says it’s his favorite book. The photos, however, are more familiar with the public, as they are often used in articles and such about the depression. I read the book once and did not like it. I guess I was expecting something like A Death in the Family, which it wasn’t.
So, now you know all about the author of The African Queen that you didn’t ask for and maybe already knew. 😀
