Yes we can!

Barack Obama secured the democratic nomination yesterday evening.  FINALLY. 

I watched his acceptance speech with my parents.

I can’t help but feel proud of this country.  As much as we criticize America, America is one of the only country in the world where there can be such an extensive debate over political agenda between candidates  but then despite it have a seamless, peaceful change in power.  

Hillary and Obama seem to have put aside their previous rivalry for the good of the country. 

It just amazes me to think that this is a part of history.  I took american government in high school and we went through and learned about each past presidents presidency.  It went through defining moments of each and told the story of who the competition was and how it shaped the history of this country.  I am just waiting to see when I have children in school, what will be said about this campaign.  The campaign where the first black man in America and the first woman candidate for the candidacy of US president battled it out.  The textbook story is being written right now and I am happy to say that I am a part of it.
