Quick Update
I am still stuck somewhere in between being homeless and having a home. We are back at another hotel for another 9 days at the least, though it is looking like it will be more. This hotel is much closer to where our home will be, so in the event I have to take Salem to school from here, it will be much easier, and it will also give me the chance to explore the city that we will actually be living in.
So, let me start by saying that this week has been very emotional. Things have not been going the way we had hoped (like the fact that after a full two weeks has passed since leaving California, we are still in a hotel) and progression on our loan has been miserable. We really don’t have anything difinitive yet, and the lender is moving at a snails pace. I just found out like an hour ago that we are supposed to close on August 8th, if everything we have submitted is ok, and hopefully it is, but we cant get anyone to call us back. Nightmare! So there has been bickering, fighting, crying, lost faith, apartment searches, and a hospital visit. Nothing is worth mentioning, other than the hospital visit.
We left California with a moving truck, my car on a trailer, and Scott’s car. My brother came with us to help in the move, and in addition to bringing our dog, we also brought FIL’s dog because he is in a hotel as well, and he figured we would get her in a yard much faster than her staying with him. I’m sure the dogs are as irritated as we are with the confined space, but she bit Ian, tore a hole in his lip, and he had to get his first set of stitches. You can’t even begin to believe how hard that was for me (ok you can). Holding him down while he screamed for me and Scott saying his token catch phrases; "I want to go home" "Please help" "Get Up!" was the hardest thing I have ever done. Literally. I am about 90% positive that the pain stuff they gave him did not work because I have never heard a child scream the way he did in my life. And now that it is done and over with, he doesnt trust us when getting him dressed or anything at all because he thinks we are going to hold him down. And I want the dog gone, but can’t make it happen because she is FIL’s dog.
Alright time to go. This hotel has a business center, so when we arent running out to get dinner, I will come back and write. Please forgive spelling errors because family is knocking on the window for me to go!
holy crap…so sorry. and guess what. i don’t give a **** who’s dog it is. it bites your child…bye bye.

I have to agree with the first two noters about the dog needing to go…and I hope you can make that happen. I’m afraid once its bitten, it will do it again more readily. 🙁 What a bummer to hear that things are still moving so slowly on getting you guys settled into your new home. I hope you still get to find some fun times in the hotel, and one day you’ll look back on this as a funny time in your life. At least I hope so… 😉

didn’t the er have to report the dog? if not I would file an anonymous report on it.

Yep, I agree with TAMI – file an anonymous report!

Omg, so much stress. I can only imagine, though I’m sitting here in the middle of 30 boxes myself and taking a break from packing. It will get better, just ride it out.

Oh no, poor Ian. So sorry you had to endure that nightmare =( Hope all goes well on the 8th. Sending good thoughts your way!

I’m so sorry about Ian. At 8 years old, my youngest was mauled by a wolf/German Shepherd hybrid the day she was baptized in Dec 2011. She still has the scars on her arms today as a reminder. I know how you felt. Lex was older than Ian when it happened, so we didn’t have to hold her down. WA has mandatory dog bite reporting for physicians. I think the animal that bit her was put down.
