YES I GOT THE PART!
I am so excited, I found out before 9am this morning and I haven’t stopped smiling all day. It is so exciting and scary all at the same time. This is the first time I have had a big part, I normally get a little sole line here and there but not any big parts with a whole song. Rehearsals start this wednesday which is tomorrow night and I get to meet the whole cast extra. I can’t wait.
The Call Back: I had a really bad day at work yesterday and but most of the time I tried to keep busy so I didn’t have to think about it. The minute it turned 5pm I was out the door, I got home had a little nap to recharge and then some dinner. Drove down there and got lost forgot how to get there. When I got there it was really weird as it was only me and the selection panel. I thought that there would of been other there to do the call back. When I walked in the Director come over and had a chat told me to have a little practice with the Musical Director and when I am ready we will start the audition. I did a little warm up with the MD, she was impressed that I could sing so well with the warm up, we then went through the song, fixed a few doogy notes and then we were talking about the songs from the show and she had me sing part of one of the songs, I had listened to it maybe 2 times, I was basically sight reading the music which is funny cause I can’t really sight read. She seemed impressed by the way I sang it. Then the director asked if I was ready to sing my call back song I sang – Pharaohs story from Joseph. It went well a little big of a stuff up with the words but they didn’t mind.
Then they made me do another read throught, but this time I got to look over the script with one of the other ladies who I found out today will be in the show, we read through it together a couple of times and she gave me a few pointers with some of the lines and she was so encouraging the whole time tell me that it sounded good. My biggest problem was keeping an American Accent. We then went back in front of the panel and did the reading for them, then all were smiling in the end. The director at the end had a smile and was nodding at me. I wasn’t sure if that was a sign to say yes I had got it or just a thank you sign. She then thanked me and I left. None else had turned up at this time so I think I was the only one that got a call back but you know what I don’t care cause I got the part……
The show is called Nunsensations – The Los Vegas Revue. I will be playing Sister Mary Leo. Who has dedicated her life to god through dance.
The funnest bit is that I never once do a dance step in the audition. YES I can dance. I dance with the choreographer but the rest of the panel don’t know what I can do. So they must have a lot of faith in the choreographer.
I AM SO HAPPY AND EXCITED, will keep you all informed of the progress of the show.
ALL MY LOVE
