The things I’ve never said, but always wanted to.
I like it when I catch you staring
Off into the distance –
The hot sun beating down on
Life as we know it, or
At night,
The lick of flames enhancing
Your features, while
Liquor blurs my conscience and causes
My mind to stir;
Contemplating life,
Nature
Music
Lust
Or nothing at all, as
The voice of reason echoes
Through the heat, warming
My skin and suddenly
My cheeks begin to flush.
I wait in vain for
That which won’t occur
As this silly, childish fantasy
Plays on, the way it has –
The way it will, always.
I like to pretend you
Can read my mind, as I
Silently will for you to take
A chance,
And then hope for a sign or
Some moment of clarity, which
Might change the way I feel.
It’s time to forget;
Wind tightly this history of
Girlish hope and grown up
Want, which
Inevitably unravels with
The season.
And I’m now sufficiently embarrassed, yet cathartically comfortable. God… Blogging is my favourite.

Random noter…I like the look of your site and the poem was very well crafted it has a great flow to it, much like what thoughts are like moving from one to the next. TheHighwayman
