days gone by
What do you remember about your first
1.)Day of school I remember being so excited, I had my brand new red backpack (about twice the size of me) and I was ready to meet new friends. I remember walking to the school with my Mom and my best friend Paul who lived next door. They made us hold hands.
2.)Pay Check & job I had done a lot of babysitting, but my first “real” job was setting up a “Buck Or Two” store in the mall for one of my neighbours. My brother and one of my friends and I worked with a few others putting together shelves and putting out stock, and then we all got jobs there.
3.)Time driving a car – It was in a feild somewhere near my uncle’s farm. The first time on an actual road I was with my mom, and I accidently cut off a green pick up truck. The guy gave me the finger. My brother was in the backseat laughing- never let me forget it either.
4.)Kiss He said “maybe I shouldn’t have done that” to which I replied “No, you should have!” About 6 weeks later, I realized maybe he really shouldn’t have after all. lol
5.)Crush Oh gees, my friend’s older brother…you know how it goes. Older, taller, gorgeous and funny…crushing HARD and it just never really goes away. I believe I was 9 when I first saw him.
6.)Time having sex- Let’s not go there shall we?
7.)Record you owned.- I owned a lot of records…yes, real records, as a kid. I had Muppet Babies “Rocket To The Stars” … loved it! My first “cool” cassette tape was Tiffany, which I got for my 8th birthday. My first CDs were Hole- Live Through This and Live- Throwing Copper. Both albums I still appreciate and listen to from time to time.
8.)Time away from home alone- I remember my first sleepover in grade 1. It was at my best friend Darcy’s house (I quickly lost interest in Paul once I met the new girls at school, lol) We listened to Michael Jackson, played Go Fish, talked about the tooth faerie and got in trouble for getting up in the middle of the night to watch Crocodile Dundee.
9.)Time flying- I was 9, we went to Disney World :o)
10.)Time drinking alcohol- I’d always been allowed to taste things, and from the time I was about 14 I was allowed half a glass of champagne at Christmas Brunch. However, I’m told I was first drunk at the age of 2. We were at Grandma and Grandpa’s, playing in the backyard. The whole family was there..aunts, uncle’s, cousins. One minute I was there playing and the next they couldn’t find me. Apparently I was under uncle Larry’s lawn chair, guzzling a Molson product. haha!
11.)Cigarette 2 of my highschool friends had just come back from a summer trip to Europe. They picked me up in Jen’s dad’s truck and we went for a drive out of the city to look at the stars. We ended up sitting in the back of the truck on a blanket, smoking european ciggarettes and talking about the summer. I never became addicted but experimented with social smoking for a few years after that.
12.)Time as a patient in a hospital- I was 9 (that was a big year for me!) and I had my tonsils and adnoids out. The morphine had a negative effect on me, so I wound up not able to sleep and in a lot of pain. They didn’t have any liquid tylonol, so they made me swollow aspirin. It was terrible.
13.)Surgery- See: above
14.)Time performing or public speaking- I don’t know, I guess it would have been in Sunday school at the Christmas concerts even before Kindergarten. I’ve always hated public speaking.
15.)First funeral or viewing you attended- My Opa’s funeral…again, grade 4 so I was 9. I don’t remember much other than not knowing how to feel or react. My cousins were visiting from the U.S. so I wanted to play with them, but didn’t know if it was appropriate to play and laugh when we were supposed to be sad.
16.)Pet- Wimpy! He was our cat, he lived for 18 years and I loved him to bits.
17.)Best friend- I believe we’ve been through this. Paul was first, he was fun but he never let me be Optimus Prime when we played Transformers, and when we played Hotwheels I was always the bad guy. One day he pushed me off my front steps into the snow, and I got really angry. When I met Darcy at school, I decided I liked her better. Her house was right behind mine and we pulled off a plank of the wooden fence so we didn’t have to walk around the block to visit each other, hehe.

1>18.)Phone number in your life- 261-0635 I still call it to reach my brother and my parents ;o)19.)Address you lived at- I lived in some side by side until I was 2 weeks old, then we moved to 59 Montclair Bay…in the same area, but a much nicer house. I lived there for 22 years!
