Well, they’re here!
On Tuesday morning Stephen and I woke up at 5:30am and got ready to head to the airport by 6:30. It’s about an hour drive, more when the traffic is acting up the way it tends to do in Sydney. We got to the airport by about 7:45, and found that Kurt and Christine’s flight had just arrived (10 minutes early!) Now all we had to do was wait… And what a wait it was. It took them an hour to get through customs as the backlogue of travellers had qeued up from early morning flights. I was crossing my fingers just praying that they hadn’t missed their flight. They were in Kuala Lumpur and told me they were enjoying themselves so much they didn’t care what day it was. It would be just like them (two 20 year olds hopelessly in love travelling on their own for the first time) to forget all track of time and miss the most important date of all. Thankfully though, they came to their senses and made it!
When they finally came through the gate, I waved, grinned, promised myself I wouldn’t cry and then ran up to hug them both. Ofcourse the tears ran down my face and people were looking, and I didn’t give a crap. I was so happy to see them.
We didn’t do much on Tuesday, just talked, did a bit of grocery shopping.. I made spaghetti for dinner, I knew they’d want something home cooked and what not. It was quite good, and after dinner we went out to the park across the road and played frisbee. Yesterday, we decided to head out by around 10:30am. We walked down to the train station and caught a train in to Parramatta. From there we caught a ferry, a nice way to see the bridge and the Opera House for the first time. It was a wonderful afternoon just walking around seeing the sights. We went up the the Royal Botanical Gardens, I hadn’t been there yet, they’re just beautiful and we got some awesome pictures. After that we walked to Darling Harbour, looked around a bit and then sat down for a few drinks. It’s been so nice just to find out what the two of them have been up to for the past 9 months! When dinner time finally rolled around we settled in one of our favourite restaurants on the harbour and ended up staying for 3 hours! We had drinks, garlic bread, mains, and then dessert. The train ride home wasn’t too torturous, and we caught a cab from blacktown so we wouldn’t have to wait to transfer. Everyone was exhausted by then so it was off to bed for a good night’s sleep.
Unfortunatly I have to work this afternoon, but it will give the two of them some time to get whatever they need done, and I’ll be home by 6pm. Tomorrow, I think we’re off to Taronga Zoo! Anyways, that’s all for now just wanted to update on how happy I am that my brother is finally here. I’ve missed him like crazy. Take care everyone!!
Love,
