Shut up

There’s something OFF in me and my writing lately.  When I’m away from my laptop and don’t have any privacy or before I fall asleep, I think of 100 things I want to write about.  In my head, I go on and on about what I want to say and the memories I want to put in here to remember.  But then when the time comes and I have this blank screen and keyboard in front of me, I got nothing.

It’s the strangest thing.

Last night was the 36th anniversary of our church and since it was Mark’s moms birthday, she asked everyone to attend.  There were tons of people there and great food since it was a popluck.  I made a spinach-basil pasta salad which was amazing, as always.  I asked one of Mark’s aunts for it last summer.  So the food was good, but the guest speaker was absolutely dreadful.  He was like a broken record, saying the same thing over and over again.  Didn’t even get a message accross.  Just annoying, really.  So Mark and I and his brother and sister kept looking at each other and laughing about their step grandmother falling asleep at the table, haha.  It was entertaining, I guess.

We purpously didn’t go to church today because we knew that same guy would be the guest speaker.  Which seemed like a totally reasonable excuse why not to go to church.  I actually didn’t mind.

I had a good morning.  A good morning to me is when I can wake up and not have to get out of bed.  I just roll over and pick up a good book.  That is what I did today and yesterday morning too.  I got a good hour of reading in first thing, 8 a.m., and by the time I was finished the coffee was finally brewed.  We have the worst coffee pot in America.  It’s dying and we need to get a new one ASAP.  It takes at least 45 minutes to brew and the time keeps getting longer and longer.

Even though we’ve been doing it forever, I still look forward to Saturday/Sunday morning coffee and omeletts all week long.  It’s very relaxing and delicious and just something we really enjoy.

I have jello shots cooling in the fridge right now AND a pumpkin pie in the oven.  That is what I like to call a productive Sunday.  I cleaned up the house and organized a bunch of things that truly needed it.  Tomorrow we’re going to the Redskins vs. Eagles game in Washington and I made red and yellow jello shots for the tailgate.  I’m sure they’re going to be a huge hit!  Can’t wait!  And best part, I get to leave work early just to make sure we have enough drinking time.  Genius.
