The Good ole Red, White and Blue

Lesson: God Bless America!

I am one of the very few people in the U.S. actually working on Friday, July 3rd. It’s dreadful, but I bet there are actually more people working today than I think. Driving at 7:30 this morning almost made me think I lived in a ghost town, it was totally empty. It’s 3:05 p.m., I’ve been here all day and my phone has rang once, and it was Mark. Why they make us slave away on a "holiday," I don’t know. Welcome to the working world, I guess. How terrible is it going to be for me when I have to "work" on Christmas Eve? Ugh, I can’t imagine. I’ll take a paid day off that day, for sure, that is if I’m still at this job…..

I’m super excited for some 4th of July festivities! Mark and I are going to Washington, D.C. for a Nationals baseball game tomorrow afternoon and we’ll go early to get some good beer drinking in too. Then we’re going to hang out downtown, walk around the national mall, go see the ole Jefferson Memorial, maybe, find a cheap place for dinner, and watch the best fireworks in the world. Just the two of us! It will be fun!

Most of all, I’m excited to see Stinky! Mark is too, I know. 🙂

Mark and I debated back and forth for the whole week trying to decide if we even wanted to go to D.C. We’ve been spending a lot of money this summer and we were thinking maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to go and spend money on gas, metro rides, meals, etc. Then yesterday I snapped into it and thought, might as well do it while we can! We’re not poor, but we’re certaintly not rich and it’s not like we’re spending what we don’t have. We have money, it’s just a matter of what we want to spend it or not. And it’s so stupid to NOT do something fun because of money. Especially when we have a free place to stay! So we’re leaving as soon as I get off and I can’t wait to get the hell out of here!

Just about all the executives are out of the office today. Some came in this morning and left early, others didn’t come in at all. It must be nice. There’s only one Exec here and all three secretaries. Kinda ridicilious, maybe? And I bet we’ve all been counting down the minutes until this day is over and the fun can begin!

Hey girl! Ugh, working on holidays is yuck. I guess I would rather work the day before July 4th rather than like… Christmas Eve or something, though. Sounds like you had some fun 4th of July plans. DC for the 4th sounds like so much fun. What better a place to be on Independence Day? Hope you guys had lots of fun!! 🙂
