Nashhhhhhville :D (Supernatural Con)

Okay, I’ve copied and pasted pics from her to the message boards previously, so I’m hoping it works both ways and I can quickly share some pics, but guysssssss – we had the BEST time 🙂 We left Friday morning and got into Nashville around 3 PM. The hotel we stayed at, the Gaylord Opryland, was amaaaaazing. It was like a cruise ship on land – restaurants, bars, and cafes galore – a spa, salon, three pools, etc etc etc. Our room was so far from the convention center that our friends legitimately got to their car, drove back to the hotel they were staying at, and got to their room in the same amount of time it took Phil and I to just walk back to ours in the same building lol.

After we checked in Friday I showered and got properly dressed (I am not a pretty traveler!) and we head off to explore. We ended up going to the Mexican place for dinner, they had amazing pink sangria! We went back to the room after so I could find out where everyone was meeting (there was a Facebook group). Since karaoke wasn’t until 10 we beelined it to Jack Daniel’s because the two things I most couldn’t wait for was whiskey pecan pie and a Lynchburg Lemon Drop. That lemon drop – most amazing thing I’ve ever had in my life. Way to combine my favorite martini with my favorite hard alcohol! I had a fair number during our stay and am sad to say I can’t even find a recipe online. Time to start experimenting!

In line to register for the next day I got a text from Crystal (girl from the message boards I was meeting there) saying they were also in line so we met for the first time, YAY! Her and her husband were both very cool. And very tolerating! I’m a bit of a hyperactive freak when overexcited and they were both laid back, totally chill people. But anyway, we got our wristbands for the next day and got in line for karaoke. We’re standing there getting to know each other and – oh look – there goes a guy from the show lol. Two of the actors were hosting karaoke and it was so surreal seeing him right there! Karaoke was a blast. By the end of the night I think everyone was on stage, they just kept dragging up backup singers. They also came down off the stage during some songs and did pictures with the audience, it was so cool.

Needless to say we were up late. And fairly tipsy lol.

Saturday was the first full con day and JARED DAY! Okay, and Jensen. Me = hyperactive freak. Crystal = "Oh, what, I’m meeting a celeb? No biggie" (seriously, sitting totally still and calm). She had photos with that other guy so she went ahead of me and then I had to wait hours by myself (with a couple hundred other fans haha) for Jared. I had assumed the panel would be first and we’d get to see them before photos, buuuuut, not so much. So I’m in line all sweaty-palmed and feeling queasy and finally can’t take it anymore and start talking to the girl in front of me about how damn calm she is. To which she responded, Oh Hell no! Apparently those southern gals are just much better at holding it together lol.So we chatted as the line moved along slooooowly, and then suddenly very quickly and we both panicked about how close we were. Unlike when we met NKOTB a few years ago you could actually see the guys before you had to approach them and I think that made it loads easier. By the time you got into the room there were still a handful of girls in front of you. So I walk in and grin like an idiot as soon as I see him standing there and he looked up and saw and smiled at me ha. The whole time I couldn’t decide if I wanted to say anything to him and I decided to just go with hi and minimize my chances of looking like an idiot. When it was my turn I flashed a huge grin and said hi and he smiled, said "hey babe" and put his arm around me *swoon*

That was it, but it was ah-mazing 😀

Right after that was the Jared/Jensen panel (the show stars) and they were adorable and hilarious. We were a little bummed because things were behind and no one could tell us when the next panel was, so we ran to grab dinner next to the ballroom and ended up missing half of the next panel, which was with the guys from karaoke the night before. Jared apparently crashed their panel, which made everyone scream – we heard the screaming and went running for the ballroom and ran into Jared and his security entourage leaving through the back. He said "hey y’all" and I swooned on the inside again haha.

We weren’t going to do the concert that night but Jared tweeted that he would be there (oh yeah, he joined Twitter last weekend, big news) so we went. He introduced the band and his wifey was there with him. It was kind of exciting because she also was on the show, even though she was kind of a loathed character. She’s gorgeous in person, holy moly! She hung around after and chatted with fans so that was nice. After that we went upstairs to pick up our photos and sadly missed the costume contest.

Adam and Crystal ended up going back to their hotel around 10 and Phil and I bar hopped at the hotel lol. Oh, they had Supernatural themed drinks at the bars, a new one every day, it was hysterical.

Sunday had one of the funniest panels, really. For those who don’t know Supernatural, it stars two guys with a huge host of supporting characters that only appear sporadically. So some of the lesser characters we didn’t know what to expect, but they were all fantastic. Richard Speight Jr who plays a well-loved character (despite only being in 4 episodes!) was the best. Absolutely. He was totally accessible, friendly, walked around the audience during his panels instead of staying on stage – he’s one of them that hosts karaoke. The other guys we saw over the course of the weekend walking around and they’d smile and say hi, but Richard would take pictures, stop to chat, just really an awesome guy. And hilarious! I came away with a fangirl crush on Matt Cohen. He has only been in 2 episodes, but he’s adorable and such a dork. He and Richard were brilliant together. Apparently he was on the MTV show South of Nowhere if anyone watched that. I’m thinking I must now.

Corin Nemic was another panel that day – I guess he has also been on Stargate SG-1 and was Parker Lewis in Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, which I had never heard of, but Phil was psyched about lol. Oh he was also in The Stand. He was hilarious, he really had some great stories.

And the very last panel was Misha Collins, who since season 4 has become the 3rd most popular person on the show. His character is hilarious and so is he. He’s so eccentric and sarcastic on Twitter, which is really what he has become known for. He’s pretty much the same in his panels.

Sadly we had to leave after that and rush to the airport. Our flight was routed through Charlotte and supposed to leave at 7, but there was apparently weather in Charlotte and everything was shut down so there was no way to make our connection. We were stuck in Nash an extra night on our own dime because it was out of the airline’s control. Poo. I cried through the whole rebooking, calling my mom, getting our luggage, ride to the hotel, etc etc. Not like hysterical ugly cry, but once the excitement of the con was done I just wanted to get home to my baby! There was another girl from the con on our flight who was supposed to be going on to FL and she was stuck too. She was very sweet and gave me

a hug and loaned me her sweatshirt because it was freezing! I feel really bad I didn’t get her name. It sounded like she was going to be spending the night at the Charlotte airport and I felt bad for her.

Anyway, we flew back first thing Monday morning (there was another fan in front of us at security that morning, we’re not the only crazy ones traveling to cons!) and I was still a little sad despite the drama of the night before. It was such an amazing time, even my husband had fun *gasp* He actually wants to go back another year! lol lol. They’ve already confirmed next year, but I hope to have another kid by then, so I told him if there was one in 2013 we could go.

In related news, there’s a Boston con in about 2 months and Jared will, in fact, be attending. You can guess where I’ll be. Some of the girls from Nash are going too haha. Boston is a much smaller venue and they’re saying it will be more intimate so I’m excited. Someone is selling their Gold Ticket for $100 less than face value (since they’re not sold out on the site yet) and I want it. I mean, considering what I paid to meet NKOTB and for that one night….this is only $100 more for the entire weekend and includes breakfast with Jared and Misha (since Jensen isn’t attending), a cocktail party with all the rest of them, and autographs from all guests. If I can unload my VanCon tix (we first planned on doing LA, then Vancouver, then settled on Nash) I might go for it. Crystal said she’s definitely going back to Nash next year and definitely going Gold! lol

Richard Speight Jr (Trickster) – who is by far and away the best, he adores the fans. He hosted karaoke the night before and took pictures with almost everyone and all of his panels he walked around the room instead of staying on the stage. Very very involved.

And that’s just ONE of the many atriums., all completely indoors and enclosed. I really wish I’d taken more pictures of the skywalks and restaurants, etc, so you could understand! Like we checked in and they gave us a map lol.

P.S. You should all now watch Supernatural, that is the moral of my story lol.
