Making Professors stop and think

In my US History I class something unusual happened.  The good professor did not lecture for half the class he talked to us about something he noticed last week and was trying to understand.

The discussion last week had been about Pontiac’s Rebellion and the seige of Detroit.  And how the British broke the seige by giving the natives smallpox infested blankets "in a gesture of good faith."

He told us that we were the first class not to be totally disgusted by it and seemed to be more accepting of the horrors of it.  So the discussion was about socialization and alot of give and tae about why we were not really phased by it and how has things changed in society to cause people to have that viewpoint.

He pegged it on September 11 and I guess for alot of them well thats probibly close to it.  Its always scary to hear how young my classmates were.  Because I remember being at the college watching him fight with the tv to see if we could get some any information.  After that we got cable.

It was an interesting class discussion.
