Movies, movies, movies.

Stolen from a few people (most recently Krud)

1.) What was the first movie you saw in a theater and simply had to go back and watch again the next day?

Well there have been a few. The Matrix (I am not ashamed to say I saw it four days in a row and a total of 13 times in the theater) and Shrek (two days in a row and six times in the theater) most recently Zach and Miri Make a Porno, though I had to wait two days to see it the second time.

2.) What movie do you know so well that you find yourself mouthing the dialogue silently along with the characters?

There are so many films that I do this with. Ferris Buller’s Day Off, Jerry Maguire, Office Space, The Matrix, Shrek, Toy Story 1&2, Saving Private Ryan and of course Forrest Gump.

3.) What is the most unique movie-watching experience you’ve ever had? It’s weird because it was the same as Krud (who I stole this quiz from). I saw Apollo 13 and Judge Dredd at the drive in and I was sat on top of my parents mini van to watch it because my brothers were talking and I was missing the movie. So I watched Apollo 13 outside where the screen disappeared into the night sky. It was unreal.

4.) In terms of laughter, tears, fear, or anger, what movie triggered the strongest emotional response in you?

This is a tough question. Forrest Gump would have to be in the running for certain.

5.) Have you ever enjoyed a film remake? If so, which one(s)?

I enjoyed the new Halloween movie (by Rob Zombie), I Am Ledged (though the end sucked), War Of The Worlds, Cape Fear, The Thomas Crown Affair, and Ocean’s Eleven (though I like the original more).

6.) Are there certain directors, writers, or actors you trust more than others to make a film worthwhile? If so, which one(s)?

Well Steven Spielberg is amazing and can do no wrong in my opinion. I have other favorites to, but none that deserve to be in the same category as him.

7.) What movie has the finest first 15 minutes in cinema?

Wow what an awesome question. In terms of grabbing your attention I would say Saving Private Ryan. I didn’t breathe while that scene was on. This is just too tough of a question. How do you pick between Patton’s Speech at the beginning of Patton, the iconic beginning of Star Wars: A New Hope, the beginning go The Godfather and A Clockwork Orange?

8.) What movie has the finest final 60 seconds in cinema? Just like Krud, I have to say The Usual Suspects. If you haven’t scene it, you need to. I’m not saying it’s the best ending but that last minute leaves your jaw on the floor.

9.) What is your favorite dialogue exchange in movie history?

So it’s not so much about exchange in Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, but about the dialogue itself. If you haven’t seen it, go get it now. Here is an example:

It’s like I’m out in a big boat, and I see one fellow in a rowboat who’s tired of rowing and wants a free ride, and another fellow who’s drowning. Who would you expect me to rescue? Mr. Cedar – who’s just tired of rowing and wants a free ride? Or those men out there who are drowning? Any ten year old child will give you the answer to that.

Great stuff. Seriously, check it out.

10.) What movie has the cheesiest dialogue exchange in movie history?

The movie Double Team starring Jean Claude Van Damm and Dennis Rhodman. I refuse to give an example. Sorry, you want to know try to sit through it and find out.

11.) Do you have a favorite season or time of year for movie watching in the theater? I love going any time of the year. Summer Blockbuster season has a buzz about it though.

12.) Are there any movies you can only watch at a certain time of year? Like most people I only enjoy Christmas Moves during the season.

13.) What is the first movie you saw in theaters which you remember clearly?

Crocodile Dundee. I loved that movie when I was six years old. My dad took me to see it three times. The first time my sister pee’d her pants when the croc jumps out at the lady and grabs her canteen.

14.) Are there any movies you absolutely adored as a child that you can no longer stand as an adult?

Excalibur. I loved that movie when I was little. (the movie not the cartoon). Now I just get bored watching it.

15.) Have you ever had a movie you thoroughly enjoyed that was ruined for you by becoming associated with someone?

Not that I can think of. I normally don’t let anything influence how I see film.

16.) Is there a movie that you dislike entirely save for one redeeming or beloved scene? I know there is, but I can’t think of one thanks to the noise below me here at work. When you have watched as many movies as I have these things tend to get lost. Sorry.

17.) Have you ever seen a movie that you were enjoying, only to have it utterly ruined for you in the last few minutes? House On Haunted Hill. It was nice and creepy then the house comes to life and starts killing people. WTF happened to the scary ass doctor?

18.) What is the worst film you have ever watched?

Possibly Battlefield Earth. That movie was crap on a cracker with a huge budget.

19.) Have you ever purchased a movie before actually having watched the film before?

Yeah I have a bunch of times.

20.) What movie could you watch every day for the rest of your life?

Jerry Maguire, True Lies, Beverly Hills Cop and a few others.

I agree with #7. I’m still pissed to this day that Saving Private Ryan somehow didn’t win Best Picture. Shakespeare In Love? Are you freakin’ KIDDING me??
