Oxford city

It’s amazing how little we know about what will happen that day. I’ve realised that yesterday when I was going to work with the big plan of coming home straight after, but ended up in Oxford City….to make things more interesting inside Oxford University. 🙂

It all happened quickly, I met the family of the girls whom I looked after from their age of 6…we have been in contact all the time. They both are students at Oxford Uni. And yesterday their parents were going to Oxford for the younger girl’s concert. She plays on french horn! And they asked me if I want to come along as they have an extra ticket. That involved a very late coming back but I agreed and went.

I went to Oxford only once when I was 17 and all I remember was some lake and boats.

The centre of the city is amazing, so much Harry Potter! We were starving so we went to tiny pub with squeaky doors, and it was too very Harry Potter 🙂 Then the older girl joined us and after some red wine and plate of fish and chips we all went to the concert. Of course we were late because Inez (older girl) wanted to show us the place where she eats dinners…that was certainly Harry Potter! Huge space, high ceiling, large portraits on the walls, and long rows of tables with lamps on them.

here is the picture

After the concert we had to wait for girl’s dad as he had a talk at the very posh dinner (he hated it as he said later) can’t say much but it was such a different world. We came earlier and had a glimpse….all those upper class, well dressed people seating at the tables. We were wet and I looked particularly out of the picture as I didn’t even have time to dress up for that trip. I was wearing jeans, trainers and very red coat hmmm….the boy when he heard the speaker is girl’s dad opened some strange room for us to wait. Again Harry Potter! Wooden walls, some portraits, long table, we spent some time in there drying ourselves.

Their dad came shortly after and he wasn’t too exited about the whole evening…can’t say much but…..well he said dinner was horrible so we bought a pizza from the van (small van with a real fire oven to bake pizza, just outside the uni) and we ate it in the car. I wasn’t hungry after that huge portion of fish and chips, but managed a few slices and it was very good!

I was at home very late but it was all worth it!

as far as I’m aware this round building with the dome it’s a library (not the only one)

OK got to go! Full day work today!
