Octo 7 Baba-Yaga

7th – Something historical -OR- mythological

Well, Baba-Yaga was so important for me when I was a child, without her all the great stories wouldn’t be told. As long as I’m aware this character has been taken from the myth….I was searching for Eastern European mythical creatures and she came up…I think I will do some small research on her 😉 just to find out more about her origins!

Here are a collection of other supernatural spirits from Eastern Europe to watch out for:

Baba Yaga (Slavic)—Witch who lives in a wooden hut on chicken legs in a dark forest, flies around on a broomstick, and eats children

This is interesting. Ooh, I wonder if perhaps she was inspiration for Hansel and Gretel story? I do not know much about about Eastern European mythology, but I recall the H & G witch ate children. . .She lured them in with candy house and fattened them up then ate them. LOL.
