Plain

Yesterday was alright. Megan left for work, so I was on my own. Work was okay, though it was cold for my run, so I wore a sweatshirt, and found running fairly difficult. I’m not sure if that was from the cold making my lungs work harder, or just from my having had three days to get back out of shape, but I gave it a fairly good go, going at least three quarters of the way before walking. It was definitely my cardiovascular system this time, rather than my legs that got tired (it was the opposite last week). I had leftovers for lunch, which were good, if a bit underfilling, and work was fine, and I kept up fairly well. Unfortunately, I started to feel a bit under the weather after the run. I had a scratchy throat the night before, which I had attributed to too much dust while folding laundry, but I started to wonder if it was something else. I also had what seemed like a fever (my head was hot, anyway), so I started to get a bit concerned. I got through my podcasts early, and couldn’t find the audiobook I had downloaded on my iPod, so I listened to music, instead, checking out things from people I knew, but hadn’t listened to much. I started with a Radiohead album, and then did a disc and a half of the Stevie Nicks box set I bought some time ago. I wasn’t over the moon about either, but there were high points. Anyhow, I headed home after that, and was feeling kind of depressed (triggered by a performance review, which I understand, but still object to), so I tried listening to music that wasn’t so dark in an effort to raise my mood. I listened to Electric Warrior by T Rex, which is a favorite, and very bubbly and fun. It only kind of worked. It’s also a short album, so I shuffled my iPod, and got a pretty good run of songs, but they ended up being really rather depressing… the last one being the Over the Rainbow song by that Hawaiian guy… his first name is Israel, and I can’t remember how to spell his last name. So, I came into the house in a rather down mood, fed the cats, and made dinner, which was hushwee. I haven’t had that in a while, because Megan does not often get in the mood to have it. I took some medicine while it was cooking, because my head was killing me, which made me wonder about whether I was getting sick or not. I ate that and played Skyrim, which was good. I did some quests I have been meaning to do, which were defining moments for this character (destroying a guild of assassins, saving the capital city, and buying a homestead and starting a house), as well as selling some things, which was good. I look forward to finishing up the house, adopting kids, and then getting my character to start exploring more new things. My alarm reminding me that Agents of SHIELD came on, and I texted Megan to remind her about it, since she enjoys it, as well, and I watched it, while playing Skyrim during commercials. Megan likes the show after it, so I played a little while longer, until she texted that she would be calling soon, so I put away the leftovers and got ready for bed. I read a small section of my novel while waiting for her to call, and then we talked for a while, and I finished reading that section before going to sleep. I slept alright, but was kind of tired when I got up. Luckily, I had made coffee ahead of time, and decided on clothes, so I was able to get ready quickly. I had also figured out where my audiobook was on my iPod, so I was looking forward to that. I also didn’t feel particularly sick, so that was nice. I got ready, and headed off to work, and rather than listen to podcasts in the morning how I normally would, I listened to the prologue of the audiobook, and started podcasts when I got to work. Since music didn’t help a lot last night, if I finish my podcasts (which I think I will), I will probably listen to the book on the way home, as well. I barely remembered to do my plank last night, but I did, and am up to a minute, now… which was quite challenging, and my stomach is rather sore today. I am also going to continue running today, despite being a bit concerned about the possibility of it contributing to my getting sick (I know that being in the cold is supposed to not do that, based on studies, but combined with running, it might cause things to spread to my lungs a bit more easily). I guess we’ll see what happens. I don’t want to stop doing something healthy in an effort to keep from getting sick, so if I get sick, I get sick. I don’t mind it that much, actually. Anyhow, that’s my plan.
