Encouraging Words
I got the following email this afternoon from a woman who had been my supervisor for years, till she retired. A few months ago she came back to work part time a couple of days a week because we were behind. Her email made me feel REALLY GOOD.

Hi Chutes, I, like everybody else that I know in our group, was really really sad to discover that you were not at work on Monday and that those dopes had let you go. [Dog] stopped by my cube in the afternoon and he asked me if I knew and what I thought. I told him that a big mistake had been made, that you were by far the most productive member of the group, that no way would the work get done now, and that morale was terrible because you were such a very nice person and should not have been treated badly. I of course have such nerve to tell him the truth now since i don’t really work for him or even for the company.
I will sorely miss you. Your legacy in zillions of items and reviews will live on, of course. When I came back in my temp status you were really the only person I could turn to for computer advice et al, the only one who wasn’t feeling so burdened with their futile search to please the unpleasable higher ups. I hope you enjoy some time off and expect that you will find a satisfying way to use your considerable talents. Keep in touch.
Very best wishes and many sympathetic thoughts, Benevolent Former Supervisor
I didn’t know that your Supervisor was your Mom
