Why do we have to pretend America really is the shining “City on the Hill”?

Ahhhhh…I don’t get it. How can everyone be so SURE their religion is 100% correct. And, by coincidence, the correct religion is the religion of their PARENTS!

I woke up this morning with this religious show where the pastor answers mail from listeners. I can’t tell if the questions are real or staged but it doesn’t matter. Either way, the answers are sometimes interesting.

He really believes Noah survived on a boat with all those animals and that’s what happened period. Modern science is wrong about the age of the world….

Now I’m falling asleep watching Frontline about the House of Saud. A child about eight is on the television reciting a chant about limbs and body parts blowing up in Jerusalem and it makes me ill. But would turning on MTV make it disappear? No that’s escapism.

So this is what the twenty-first century is like. I’m glad I won’t be here for the twenty-second.
