Memories of 1981

Weirdly enough, they are not MY memories, however. Of course, I was born that year, so one couldn’t really expect me to remember it, I suppose.

No, this was something interesting I found in a library book. I checked out an Orson Scott Card book (Enchanted, I think) and got it home. We were just flipping through the books we’d gotten and out fell a post card. It was dated August 5, 1981 out of Paradise, Michigan. There was a 12 cent stamp on it (yeah, 12 cents!) and it read as follows:

** Happy Anniversary!!
Rain has been falling through-out our anniversary (<-this word is crossed out, I can’t figure out strike-through, then in parenthesis is the word "opps!!") vacation. We left C.B. on 7/25. Expect to be home 8/13. Katy’s wedding was very nice, it was traditional and everyone enjoyed it. Hope this finds you all in excellent health. Lovingly – your wet daughter-Julie. Love from Tim & Sean. **

It’s addressed to a couple that lives in Waterloo, In.

I don’t know why this postcard is so intriguing to me, but it is. A little taste of someone’s, to me, unremarkable event, but to them, it was probably one of the highlights of their life. I dig that.

Other than that, it’s been pretty slow and steady around here. We took the girls to see Kung Fu Panda last night. Amazingly, Piper sat very well through the entire movie. She ate popcorn like a teenager and even snacked on Yani’s sour Skittles (ew). She just seemed enthralled with the giant movie screen. And, the movie was pretty funny, too. I spent more time watching Pip, though, than the movie. Something about that child completely enraptures me, daily. I love watching her learn and see new things. It’s amazing to me.

Me and the girls are about to head out of the house to find Joe’s father’s day present. I have NO idea what to get him, so I might just let them pick. It will probably be silly, but at least it’s from them.

I’m also supposed to, maybe, have coffee with Sara today sometime. I don’t know yet.

Alright, I have nothing else to say. 😉

Happy Saturday, dearies.

Tia
