Just when I think I’ve got it
I take forever (or a week) to write a new entry. Sorry!
Let’s see. In this entry you will find: More dad stuff, curtains, jobs, patio furniture, other furniture, hair dilemma, and maybe a bit of boy stuff (no promises on that one!).
First up! Dad stuff. I’ve talked to him a couple more times in the last week. The most recent is interesting. He has decided that it sucks to try to get ahold of me and my sister (we only have home phones and pay long distance), so he’s buying 2 more lines on his cell plan and adding us to it. We already have AT&T phones (we were both with them at one point), so he only has to get the sim cards, but I’ll have a cell phone! It may have a Florida area code, but I can live with that! 🙂 And he’s going to pay the monthly bill. That way, I’ll be able to call him, Laz, and even my little bro (who’s been with AT&T forever) for NOTHING! I think a few of my friends are with AT&T, as well, so that’ll even be nice. I don’t really know where I stand on all this, but Joe suggested just going with the flow, right now, so that’s what I’m doing. Part of me says he owes it to me anyway. But another part doesn’t want him to think it’s only about money. I guess since he came up with the idea and offered it, he can’t blame me for asking, since I didn’t, though. Eh, oh well. At any rate.
Next! Curtains! We’re finally starting to be "moved in" to the new house. However, there are NO curtains!! 🙁 This bothers me immensely b/c I like to walk around naked at night and everyone who drives by could see. Ok, ok, not really. I just think that windows need some kind of covering. During the day, they can be pulled back to let sunshine and air in, but when the sun is beating down or at night, I’d like to be able to cover them. Plus, curtains are such a nice addition to the decor of a room, which is something else we’re working on. I think we’ve got the colors picked out for a couple of the rooms, and I’m VERY excited about them. The dining room is going to be… well, similar to my OD colors, actually. The blue is a little less teal and a little more slate color, but chocolate brown table cloth with blue accents. And then the curtains will be, hopefully, Blue with some chocolate brown tiebacks or some thing. I’ve got to recover our chairs, but they are in the garage getting re-glued together. The last person who did it messed it up something awful and they are very rickety, but they’re nice chairs, so we don’t want to pitch them. Instead, Joe’s taking them apart, sanding them down and gluing them together correctly. It’s so nice to have a carpenter around the house. 🙂
Now the Living Room is still in the deciding stage on colors, but I want red and cream. Not lipstick red, more like a deep blood red, almost burgundy. I need to make covers for the couches (until we can buy new furniture), and I think cream colored curtains with burgundy tiebacks would look lovely. Also up for decision is a nice color scheme of lime and chocolate, with less emphasis on the chocolate in this room b/c of it’s proximity to the dining room w/ the same color. But seriously, a lime green couch, with chocolate pillows, paired with a chocolate loveseat (or 1 1/2 person chair) w/ lime pillows, then a huge rug with complimentary colors in it and nice striped chocolate and lime curtains would be CUTE (i think, anyway). So, we’re unsure. Then there the bathroom and the kitchen. The kitchen’s been decided (since the second day we lived here) It’s really clean and neat in there, so we’re keeping with the feel. The colors (or almost lack thereof) are going to be the nice pine woodtones we have in the cabinets, with black and white accents. Our ceramic tile is even almost pine colored. It’s lovely.
The bathroom is possibly the most tricky room. It’s a nice size, with lots of possibilities, but I don’t want to do something really obvious in there. So, I’m looking at coral colors – salmon(ish), muted greens, and calm blues. We’ll see. The only problem is there’s a giant built in linen closet that takes up half of the available wallspace. It’s great to have, but it’s a (kind of) ugly cherry wood color. I don’t like the color, but I can’t imagine the sanding that would be involved, before I could paint it, so I’m hoping I can just make it work with whatever colors we end up with.
Hm. When I wrote curtains as a feature, I didn’t mean to get so involved in our decorating processes. 🙂
Patio Furniture!! We drove by a yard sale on Sunday (on the way to momma’s) and there was a bunch of seemingly cool stuff out, so we stopped. And spent $40, but got seriously great stuff. The main reason we stopped was b/c there was an old wicker loveseat that looked in good condition (and it was) that we wanted for the front porch. And then, back off to the side, we found the motherlode!!! An antique sewing machine base!! The stand alone kind that’s made of wrought iron (or something) and looks so cool with the spinning wheel thing and the flat pedal base!! Yeah, we swooped in on it. Joe’s going to build me a butcher block top for it and it’s in our kitchen! Woot! (yeah, i said it, what?!) We also got a perfectly functional baker’s rack (which I wanted) and Piper got a little bike. She loves it. Surprise! lol
So, my hair dilemma. I want curly hair. Desperately. But perms kind of scare me. But I want it. But I can’t curl my hair everyday (waaaay too much hair for that). But I don’t want to fry my hair and have it look poodle-ish. What do I do???
Ok, well, I told you I wouldn’t promise to update on boy stuff, and I’m glad I didn’t. The baby is DEMANDING attention and I actually have a few errands to run today, so I have to quit. How about this? I’ll try REALLY hard to get to it, first thing tomorrow, ok?
love you, my darlings!
