moving… sort of.

Ok, so it looks like we might be moving again. Believe it or not! Only, it’s just a sort of kind of move. πŸ™‚ We’ve decided to take the, now open, downstair apartment. The house I live in is a split (upstairs-downstairs) apartment. We moved into the upstairs in May b/c the downstairs was not open. But the tenants then got evicted. And then new people moved in… and then got evicted. The apartment is having problems holding on to good people! However, downstairs has a feature that we do not have… a basement! We’ve really started to become buried in our stuff upstairs. Just stuff that needs stored b/c we’re not willing to get rid of any of it. We don’t have ANY storage capability up here, though, which makes my apartment look really cramped and it’s hard to clean and keep up with b/c it never really gets clean anymore. We talked about it most of the weekend and decided today that we’re going to take it. Our landlord seems really on board with it. Probably b/c our apartment will be much easier to rent out (it has more character, honestly). It’s got a claw foot tub in the bathroom and a full laundry room off the same bathroom. The kitchen is really hip w/ metal cabinetry and a neat cut out to the dining room.  It’s just an attractive apartment (which is why I took it). The downstairs is more of a clean slate, decor-wise, but that gives me a little more creative freedom to make it my own. We’re allowed to paint and Joe gets a huge discount at the local paint-ery b/c he works for a cabinet shop. Plus, I’m a hell of a bargain shopper when it comes to home interior decor. It’s part of what I sell on eBay. πŸ™‚ So with a little paint, bric-a-brac, and imagination, I believe we’ll have a much nicer apartment… especially when you remove all the junk, that just lies around the apartment, to the basement.
I think we’re gonna put all three kiddos in one room to sleep and then give them the big front room to have as a play room. The kitchen downstairs is big enough to put the table in it, so the "dining room" downstairs can be a living room instead. πŸ™‚ Don’t think I’m kidding myself, I imagine we’ll still seem cramped sometimes – hell, there are 5 of us living in a 2 bedroom apartment – but we’re on the right track I think. In May, when the lease is up, we’ll be looking for something bigger to live in. Hopefully, at least a 3 bedroom. πŸ™ In a perfect world, it’d be a 4 bedroom. If anyone has anything near them, that is fairly inexpensive, and has plenty of job opportunities available – let me know. I really think I could talk us into moving out of the state with a little work. πŸ™‚ But it’d have to work out right… You know, job first, then home, then friends. πŸ™‚ I’ve been jokingly (sort of) saying that if Hillary or Mitt gets elected as president, I’m moving out of the country. But, the sincere part, really wants to move out. Of the country. I don’t feel like we belong here. Maybe it was some weird mix up that made the lot of us born american’s… and I’m not knocking the freedoms and privileges we get as Americans… but I don’t know that I should have been american. It’s a weird thing, I guess.
Ok, well, there’s plenty I could be doing on this very lazy Sunday, so .. a bientot!

Tia
