keys and a 3rd walk
This is funny to me.
Son lost the set of keys he uses to drive our old car around and to work, etc. We have a spare set that I keep hanging in the kitchen, so he adopted those. It bothered me a bit becuase if he wasn’t home and I needed to move “his” car, I never knew where the keys were.
Lo and behold, he lost that set too. And the car was parked in front of the neighbors. I really don’t like that.
So, when we accidentally found the spare set of keys on the floor today, I moved the car and put the keys in my purse and went to work. He wanted me to give them to him but I said no way.
Now son-shine had to go to work at 4 and I wasn’t home. So, he called and I said, sorry. He fussed a bit, but I said he cuold either ride his bike (which he does from time to time, especially the other day when he could find neither set of keys) or walk. I told him about how much time he should allow if he planned to walk. He was not happy, but he cuoldn’t drive out to where I work to get the keys, so… oh well.
Guess what? He found his set of keys! If I had let him use the spare set, he never would have looked hard enuf to find his! So even tho he didn’t appreciate it at the time, I did him a big favor. lol!
But then I forgot parent teacher conferences were today. they go tomorrow morning too, but I hate to get up early, and I need to be to work early besides. I also hate to miss pt conf because this is the very last year for me to have a kid in school. sniff, sniff. So I hope I get up early enuf to go.
I went on another walk tonite and took hub. he doesn’t really like to go and I have to drag him out of the house. but I figure I am doing him a favor health-wise if I can get him to do some leisure walking. Plus I don’t like to walk alone at night.
we went to the lake in the dark and looked at the lights reflecting off the water. it was cool and there were some cool optical illusions we decided. We watched the moon pop up over some cloud formations and it was neat too. when we were not far from home on our way back, we came to a tree that hadn’t lost its leaves yet, and they were bright yellow and close to a street light. We both stopped under that tree and just marvelled at the beauty of the yellow leaves, dark branches and just the beauty of it. Amazing. How many years have we just plain missed something like that. We drive by, we go home, we get on the computer, we watch tv, whatever, but we miss such simple beauty all around us because we just don’t bother looking at it. it just takes my breath away. and we live in a small town with a boring little manmade lake and very few trees because we live in the “great plains” where trees are not easy to come by. But yet we can find beauty in it.
I like to walk at the hs track because it so cushy on your feet nd legs. But I also like to walk around town here and there. If I walk alone, I usually walk at the track. If something is going on there, I will walk along the walking/bike path they put in last summer. It is WIDE cement and goes about 15-20 city blocks one way, winding through a couple of parks and by the library. A lot of ppl say the track is boring to walk around. Sometimes yes, but almost always there are cloud formations to marvel at, or something interesting. Regardless, it is a great time to just talk to the Lord about anything and everything.
What is must be like to live on the east coast or anyplace that has lots of variety in the landscape with beautiful trees. The trees go quick here as it gets so very cold at night. OUr summer is at least 4 weeks shorter than 100 miles east of here. 2 weeks later for summer to even pretend to arrive, and we freeze hard long before they get a freeze. It has already been to 17 degrees F here one night! I think they maybe got down to 30. big deal. lol!
faith hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.
I’m glad your son found his keys..sounds alot like my son..lol…Oh I just love to look at all the beauty around us that the Lord has created..trees are so beautiful when they change colors and my fav,is the clouds..I live in a small city in Michigan but we do have a lot of trees..take care..In Christ Lela
