walking

I was headed out the door to go on a walk. The weather has been so nice today I thought I better hurry! As I am at the foot of the driveway, son pulls up to park in the street in front of our house. He mouthed to me, what are you doing? Before that I put my hands on my hips and gave a stern look like I was going to go look for him and he was in trouble or something. So he rolled down his window, and I said “nothing. Just goin for a walk.” He had me listen to his music (still standing at the drivers side window) and taste his coffee he got at the coffee shop, and said, do you want a ride somewhere? I want to drive around.

OK. Cool. So I jumped in and he said where do you want to go? Nowhere, I was just going to go on a walk! So he drove around a bit and took me to the end of a walking trail we have here in town. How funny. Teens.

So I took a nice walk. Got as far as the HS track and no one was there. Tonight is homecoming football game, and some things were set up, but no one was there so I walked a couple laps until the opposing team went to set up their Gatorade stuff. Then I thought maybe I should go. I usually walk at the track cuz it is so cushy on your legs, but I thought with the game coming up I would just walk the trail. After that I continued on the trail to go so see some trees to see how they look in the fall. In the spring and summer they were such cool trees, but they are not colorful in the fall. So, nope, I don’t want one in my yard. Not pretty at all. I saw a pretty one a block back so I walked back, had to backtrack as it was across a little creek and I had to figure out how to get across. It was beautiful from a distance, but not very special close up. It was a river birch. Big deal. I thought the leaves were something they weren’t, but it was pretty from the trail. Earlier I saw the coolest leaves on a tree… the stem and veins were green green, next an outline of yellow yellow, and last a brownish color. Really cool to see a bunch of those on a branch! Very busy looking.

So I got my walk in. and now I am waiting for hub, son and one cousin to go to the game, which we will undoubtedly lose. We always do. And the band is not playing tonight, just the middle school. We go to listen to the band, but also to try to be supportive, and this time it is to take the cousin. Both cousins were supposed to come, but one is pretending to be sick so he doesn’t have to. At least the other one is going along with us. Their dad wants them to get out more and he is always gone with his new wife, so he asked hub to see to it they get out and about some.

faith hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.

RYN: Yes, Princess is truly beautiful. Usually, inside as well as outside. From my latest entry, you would doubt that! Your son sounds adorable. I love it when teens are cool!
