I Had a Thought/Dear/However Scary

‘Why were you digging?
What did you bury?’

Mister’s phone rings while I am about to go for a cigarette and <usually I would ignore it; his phone being none of my business> I answer the call from an old friend and bring it out to the yard with me where I discover Mister has finally torn up the huge US flag covered in paint and is hanging the strips from one of the garden sculptures in the warm sun.

‘I will not ask you where you came from
I would not ask and
Neither would you’

There is so much connection as pandemic unfolds around us.

‘Honey just put your
Sweet lips on my lips

We should just kiss like real people do’

In some ways this time reminds me of the closeness I felt with others during the panic after 9/11. Connections, indeed.

@thecriticsdarling I was so young then. 14? I just remember everything was sideways. Just weird.
