Playing Catch-Up

Having a little trouble finding my voice – I’ve started this entry about 10 times!

What to say, what to say……

The school year is almost over for me – just one more week.  A week full of exams.  Yippee Skippee.  In a way – a really BIG way – school is responsible for my absence here.  You may or may not know that the teaching profession has replaced Satan as the root of all evil.  Parents are no longer to be held accountable for the raising of their children.  Is the child disrespectful?  Thats because the teachers aren’t doing their jobs.  Is the child failing academically?  Damn teachers can’t teach!  Is the child drinking, on drugs, over-weight or depressed?  If teachers were competent, none of that would happen.  Too many absences for the little darling?  That’s because the teachers  aren’t interesting enough to make the child want to come to school.  And that, friends and neighbors, is just the tip of the iceberg.

This topic consumes my life all day every day and sometimes I just feel like a one-note Sally!  Teachers-are-not-evil, Teachers-are-not-evil, Teachers-are-not-evil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whew!

On the brighter side, my beautiful granddaughter is still amazing and the joy of my life.

Quite the busy little princess!  Not only that, but she will soon have a baby brother or sister!

I miss her and her momma and yes-her daddy, too!  I love my dogs, but they are not much for conversation.  Really, this empty nest shit………sucks.  I need a life!  (One that doesn’t involve becoming an incarnation of Satan……..)

So there’s the quick down and dirty – no daddy dearest stories today – sorry.  Now I have some catching up with you to do!

OMG, she’s grown! I know, I know, kids do that. But still. What a beauty! And Mazel Tov on the impending new arrival! We need more one-note Sallies, given the [expletive deleted] that’s being thrown around. (As if you don’t already have enough to do.) Kudos to you for being on the front lines.

I can not believe that little girl is your granddaughter. Last I knew she was just a little baby!

I can’t believe how much your beautiful granddaughter has grown. Now she is a little girl and no longer a baby. Your are one of the really good and special teachers whose hands are tied by “no child left behind” and other bureaucracy. It is true that parents take no responsibility for their children’s education. I’ve seen it at my granddaughter’s school. Good and dedicated teachers like you who try so hard to do a good job in spite of the government are not supported, instead blamed by parents for every behavioral problem and for their child’s poor grades. I hope you’ll continue writing here. You’ve been missed.

What has happened to us, that so many in our societies now blame others for any deficiencies. (it happens here in Australia as well as in the US) When I was a child, if students were having difficulty, it was always their own fault (not always a good attitude, if the problem was a physical one like e.g. poor eyesight or dyslexia) Now the pendulum seems to have swung as far as it can in the otherdirection. Well, I hope it’s gone as far as it can, anyway. Your granddaughter is beautiful. Congratulations on there being a second grandchild in the offing; I hope all is going really well.

*hugs* you were born for the teaching profession, it’s just sad that it isn’t the satisfying experience that it should be 🙁 Grandaughter is sooooo cute! What a great picture! X x

I’m enjoying my empty nest, although I miss my youngest from time to time. I’m up to 6 grandchildren now!!! (and no, none are my youngest daughter’s kids)

BTW: What d’you think of my tat?

She is beautiful. In many cases teachers are treated as glorified babysitters and then complained about. Many, many more parents should be parents then teachers could teach.

Your granddaughter is simply beautiful! I could write a lot about our current educational system right now. Even though I’ve no one currently in the school system, every time I hear something on the news I find myself talking back.
