Budding Starlet
Just over a week after Chickie and Duck and my Sunshine moved to NC, my nephew got married. The handy thing about this is that the wedding was about 1 hour away from my son’s house…. which is about 2 hours away from my daughter’s new digs.
The wedding was a big "to-do" which was really turning me off. A never-ending week of parties and excesses. On an exclusive island which is only accessible by ferry. No cars allowed on the island, only golf carts. Vacation home rentals START at 2000.00 per night. And I could go on from there, but really, I went anyway. I wanted to see my son and my daughter and granddaughter. The wedding, much to the bride’s dismay if she knew, was a mere afterthought.
With all my whining and grousing, the wedding was lovely. A very simple ceremony. The bride was stunning and the groom totally besotted. Quite perfect, actually. Then came the reception and a star was born.
My darling little Sunshine granddaughter began charming folks immediately. And then the band started. She danced with every adult male in the place. No really – a two year old charmer. The band was very good – played mostly 60s and 70s type music which I really enjoyed. And so did my Sunshine.
But the best was yet to come. Somehow my little charmer managed to bewitch the band and get a microphone, which she sang into with great gusto, as only a 2 year old can sing. (I’m not saying it was good, mind you…lol) Then she got the tambourine, then the cowbells and drumsticks….then her very own mic stand and mic……..
She had the time of her life….and I had more fun than I have had in YEARS just watching her enjoy herself so thoroughly! Nothing shy about my baby… wonder where she got THAT trait?
I hope the bride doesn’t get too upset when she gets her wedding photos, because every time I looked around one of the two photographers she had was snapping a photo of my Sunshine… lol. Never take a gig with kids or animals……..they’ll upstage you every time!
She’s sooooo beauuuuutiful!!!!!
