Where Does the Time Go?

I could swear I just wrote an entry here a few days ago…OK – a week ago.  But no…..it’s been a while!  Oopsie!

Things around the wolf den are a bit upside down.  I know you never expected that, did you?  ha!

Looking Back…

Chickie was in her sister’s wedding last weekend.  After all the dramatics – I think everything went well.  Chickie got to spend a little time with her dad and she was happy for that.  Getting her massive mountains of hair "done" was a chore…

But I think it turned out OK….lol!

(She is with her other sister here – the maid of honor).

Right Now…

Grandbaby Wolf – Aniah – has a complete setup ready for her arrival.  This baby is much anticipated!  Great-grandpa, grandma, great-aunt. uncle, mommie, daddy and scores of friends…. Aniah is coming into a world of love.  For that, I am truly greaful.  Oh yeah – and a fully furnished world at that!

Even Kya the puppers is anxious!!!

 Looking Ahead

The really BIG relationship issues that Chickie and her boyfriend, Duck, were embroiled in seem to be working themselves out.  OK – they’re not working themselves out…Chickie and Duckhave put in some time and effort!  Duck is back in the picture full time.  They are talking possible wedding.  They are working TOGETHER to figure out how they want to raise their child.  There are still bumps to smooth out, but not craters to fill in.  Much better!  Momma Wolf is SO relieved!!!

The current thinking is that Chickie will go back to work part time in the evenings and "attend" online college during the day as she takes care of Aniah.  The reason for this is that day care for an infant is about $200.00 a week.  That’s a LOT of money.  Really almost doesn’t pay Chickie to work.  If she were on the public dole, it would cost less than $50.00 a week.  So you tell me – where is the incentive to get a better job, if doing so makes you ineligible for assistance and, in fact, penalizes you for having more income?  It is very frustrating.  At $11.00 per hour, Chickie makes too much money to qualify for any sort of assistance (especially since she lives with me).  BUT if she were to quit her job and I were to throw her out…she could have free food, hugely reduced housing, and highly subsidized day care.  Again, where is the incentive to do for yourself?

I gotta give Chickie and Duck credit though.  They have several friends who have chosen the ‘easy’ way… and they are choosing to try and tough it out – with help from Momma wolf and, hopefully, Great-grandpa if desperately needed.

It will all work out.  If anyone has any ideas….I’d love to hear them!  In the meantime……… we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new wolf princess…

Those are great pictures! They will have a tough row to hoe, that’s for sure. I have no ideas. Except that they will have to work together and work hard. For at least the next 18 years.

How different this seems from the previous time, how the responsibility recognized by both parents has grown, and the support from family. Chickie looks so healthy and ready! It seems like this baby has already pushed over many barriers, the ball is rolling now. 🙂 Hugs,

Good for them. It’s a good thing that the grandwolf will have a united Mama and Papa. Good for YOU, for helping them get to that point! Lovely nest there, too! How do you pronounce “Aniah?” Is it like “Anya,” or “A-nye-ah?”

It does seem the last time you wrote in this diary it was on June 16 which was over 2 weeks ago. Who is Chickie? Who is having a baby and when will that happen and why do you call it a wolf princess? Why does it say Aniah in one of the pics? Is that the name of the new baby. I like the butterfly on the door.

That nursery is color-coordinated perfectly with the puppy’s tongue. :)I see so much courage and strength and love on everyone’s part here. “Tough row to hoe” is right, but you’re all working together now. That can only mean good things. {{{Hugs}}}

Sounds like things are good for Chickie. Here’s hoping!Q Hugz

I love the name Aniah, that sounds lovely. Do they have a middle name picked out as well? I’m glad things are going relatively well. And yeah– the system is crappy, and makes it hard for people to move up. It’s bad for people with disabilities too– they can’t get jobs and live productive lives becasue then they’ll lose their government assistance, which doesn’t even keep them AT the poverty line. Our welfare and such really needs a makeover. Maybe it’d be nice if we spent more money on helping people and less time building things and researching new things to hurt people. *steps down from soapbox*

They look gorgeous! What a great picture! Awww. I don’t know if I can handle the belly/nursery/eventual baby pictures!! I’m feeling very “clucky” lately. Must be that big 4-0 lurking in my not-to-distant future? I hope? Seriously, I can’t wait for photos. The baby’s room looks beautiful!

Same BS here with social assistance. They won’t help you if you’re trying to help yourself, but they’ll give you the universe if you want to sit on your duff, drink beer, smoke and spend all your money on drugs and go to the foodbank for your monthly food. It’s insane. With blessings to all of you…

She looks absolutely lovely! 😀 And yeah it does sound like quite a quandry, its quite silly really but most of the bureaucratic process is always moronic. >_< Hope a way's found. All the best of luck for that wolf! 🙂

Such a hard dilemma. My son & his girlfriend were basically homeless in January until they moved in with her brother. I refused to have them here with me, for many numerous reasons. Seems things are OK, will get better & the 2 are learning a lot of life’s lessons in the meantime. Chickie looks adorable & the room is SO sweet!

How exciting! I’m so glad your kid is acting like . . . a grown-up!!!!!

July 2, 2007

that’s why people stay on welfare. You don’t have to pay income tax and get so many benefits that if you make the same money from a job you end up with less.

July 2, 2007

Gramma Wolf! Do you think the baby will grow up to love pumpkin ravioli? xoxo

July 3, 2007

Ahhhhh! LOVE the pink baby room, so adorable! And, the sisters are beautiful! What? So ya mean I can charge when I take care of daughter’s kidlets? Lol! 🙂

July 3, 2007

Please tell me that baby is due this very instant! Chickie won’t stretch much more, me thinks. lol. The baby is certainly getting a royal welcome. Her room is lovely and her closet is already better equipped than mine.Exciting time, isn’t it?

July 4, 2007

Lovely pictures and I’m so glad to read that your daughter is working things out with her boyfriend. Best of luck to you all and I’m so looking forward to the grandbaby pictures!

July 4, 2007

beautiful nursery….. it’s hard for families to separate on many different levels these days. financial levels are one of the many things that keep families together even when room to grow and stretch is needed and wanted.

July 6, 2007

The nursery is adorable. I know what you mean about the messed up system. When I was raising my 3 boys on my own – I was penalized for working and trying to make my own living. Their father wouldn’t help us so you do what you have to do. I’m glad to hear they are trying to work things out for the good of the baby.

Love those pictures. Chickie IS glowing…. it’s good to see she’s trying to work things out with the dad. Here is hoping for the best. I know what you mean about about the incentive thing. It’s craziness! What’s wrong with out system!?!

July 20, 2007

Catching up here, finally – and so late that by now the baby has probably arrived! I hope all is going really well. That baby’s room looks delightful! And more delightful still is that Chickie and Duck are acting like adults and working together.

July 27, 2007

S[eaking of babies, my daughter woke just as the pictures all downloaded. She probably sensed butterflies on the wall and her cries translate as “But mum, why LIZARDS?” and all I can reply is… “hormones honey… and no I’m not re-painting!” She (chickie) looks beautiful and I’m sure if babywolf is here yet (don’t remember due date) you are all too busy to come to the pc now!

I was amazed when reading National Geographic the other day to discover that in the USA and Australia there is NO paid maternity leave! In Eastern Europe there is 1 to 2 years on FULL pay! England has 6 weeks on 90% then 4.5 months on £106, although it’s changing now to a full year, infact men can have paid leave too! It’s something that Family Values American Government REALLY need to look in to.

July 28, 2007

I was just wondering yesterday if Aniah has arrived yet? This is a great entry…her room is lovely and I’m happy hear that Chickie and Duck are working together to sort things out. {{{{{{{{{{{Too}}}}}}}}}}
