Whine Over, Time for A New Wine!

Lest you think that life is all a bowl of cherry…..pits! for me… here is some evidence that I have managed to squeeze in a bit of fun time in the last couple of weeks…

I went to the Renaissance Festival and wandered around, ate some food and watched some shows:

And then I watched the joust……. This was "my" knight in shining armour during the pre-joust brag fest:

And this was the final winner-takes-all, testosterone filled battle:

And here is my knight in shining armour just moments later….

Ah yes….the story of my life in just 3 frames…..  lol

But the REALLY interesting bit about the day was after we left the festival.  Sis and I thought we might catch a movie and pulled into a big huge mega shopping mall which houses a 40 screen movie house….right on a hugely busy street…. and look at what was wandering there….

Isn’t nature marvelously adaptable?  hmmmm…. Maybe I should take some lessons!

You have to wonder, are they intruding our territory, or vice versa? Or both? Are those babies??? Awwwwwwwww!!!

April 14, 2006

Hmmmm…I wonder which movie they wanted to see? lol

April 14, 2006

We go to our dorky Renaissance Festival each fall in search of those giant sized turkey legs they sell by the zillions… okay it’s kinda fun too lol. For the life of me I can’t figure out what kind of birdies those are! They look like a cross between a goose (with that long neck) and a peacockie crane thingy.. Don’t recall seeing them running around any part of Fla… What are they? And do they

hey, those birds are cool! kinda feel bad for the downed knight, though. isn’t there something you could have done? 😉 looks fun, though~

April 14, 2006

very cool~~

April 14, 2006

Love the Renaissance Fair. Daughter K & friend fixed me a swashbuckler pirate Billy Bones outfit

April 14, 2006

And to think I stayed out of the rain all day and dreamed of a right and proper joust. LOL. I’m glad you had fun.

April 14, 2006

A Renaissance Festival sounds worth visiting – especially seeing those knights. *smile* Could you send a Festival or two down to this part of the planet, do you think? I’m fascinated by those birds. They look like mutated emus. What oh what are they?!!

April 14, 2006

What ARE they?? I’ve been to Ren. Fairs and SCA tourneys but have never seen jousting on horseback! Tres cool.

April 15, 2006

It looks great fun… the photos are stunning.

April 15, 2006

Your knight just needed a quick power nap. With a grin…

Oh that Renaissance Festival looked like fun. My friend and I went to one in Minnesota a couple of years back. Great food. 🙂 I’m glad you’re saving some time and fun for yourself OUTSIDE the classroom.

April 15, 2006

ryn WOW! they look nothing like the blue herons up here! I’m amazed.. I’ll try to post a pic next time one comes to visit..

April 15, 2006

What strange birds! (And I don’t mean the knights.) We’ve been to our Ren Faire 3 – 4 times…it’s fun, but we got kind of tired of it after so many times in a row. We’ll have to go back again. Fun to escape for a few hours, isn’t it? Had the giant turkey legs too. I like the Mud Show, does yours have that? Happy Easter to you too, friend!

April 15, 2006

🙂 hiding in the bushes from those beaks! 🙂

April 15, 2006

Oh, that crane picture is just awesome! RYN: Thank you; I think your definition of God is perfect and anytime you feel like soap boxing further, please do. You are a wise woman, Lady Wolf. Have a wonderful Easter holiday. 🙂

April 15, 2006

Great shot of sandhill cranes! Love it. M and I are planning to get down there one year for the Ren Faire. I’ve been to the one in Mass. & M’s family has been involved in their Faire for decades. Have a great Easter.

April 15, 2006

I really enjoyed the Renaissance Festival when I went and would love to go back. Last year I had nobody to go with, I think next year I’ll just go alone.

April 15, 2006

Way too cute. I used to love to watch the wildlife when i lived in the sticks. 40 movie screens? OMG, I have never heard of so many in one place. I think the most we have is 24. r

April 15, 2006

ryn… ahha sand hill cranes.. never seem em, they’re so cute.. Are there a lot of them walking around? (c:

April 15, 2006

I wondered…they didn’t look quite like any herons I’d seen, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen cranes close up. Happy Easter!

I love those festivals. We have a great medieval festival here during summer.

April 16, 2006

Wait. Did you say a 40 screen movie theatre? Wow. Our largest one has about 18 theatres, I think. Renaissance Festivals are a lot of fun. I don’t recognize the birds. Are they herons?

April 16, 2006

*sigh* Isn’t that just the way it works? We find our knight in shining armour and he just has to go joust and get himself killed. I’m so glad you had yourself some fun. hugs…

April 16, 2006

They’re cute– but what are they? You take good pictures 🙂

April 16, 2006

ryn: they really are good. It’s hard to take pictures of people and have them turn out, but that top one is very nice. You’ve got a good eye 🙂

April 16, 2006

What, no men in kilts????? P, I am very disappointed.

April 17, 2006

It looks like fun….I can just hear the clanking and a banging. What strange birds.. The look a little like our Brolgas..love

April 17, 2006

LOL! Excellent! 🙂

April 18, 2006

GREAT!!! YAY! kool

April 20, 2006

Love the birds! And the night reminds me of the jousting at Camelot (The theme park not the real thing!)

May 8, 2006

My ren faire starts in two weeks and i am so pysched! We’ve worked really hard this year and the faire just keeps growing and growing. I can not wait!

May 23, 2006

I cant see the last picture. Im guessing it was alligators. 🙂
