Whine On Steroids

I believe I may have mentioned (to the point of boring everyone to death) that I am broker than broke.  I have never been this busted in my life.

Every time that I am able to suck it up and tighten my belt another notch and think that I’ll be able to scrape by……..I get beat over the head with a baseball bat.

I got paid Friday.  I got my "step raise" included….and this paycheck was exactly $1 less than my check BEFORE the raise.

Chickie’s car required 2 new tires.  No tread.  Gone and done.

Yes, by the way, I am having to repay the insurance company for the OTHER driver’s expenses from that wreck Chickie’s boyfriend had in her car.  And yes…he is splitting the expenses, but it is still money out of pocket.

My house payment is a variable mortgage which took a whopping $100 jump up.

And this morning, on my way to work, my car died.  Just stopped running.  In the middle of the street.  I had it towed to the place that does all my work…..and they can’t fix it.  Now I have to get it hauled somewhere ELSE.  And THAT will cost me $50 for towing and $89 for a diagnostic.  THEN they’ll fix it – I hope.

Nothing happens without a reason.  I believe that.  BUT I CAN’T SEE THE REASON HERE.  Why would the universe be "conspiring" to keep be broke and in crisi?  Doesn’t seem quite right to me.  So what am I missing?  Please – I want to figure it out before the baseball bat slams into me again!

And for those of you who are about to mention that Chickie should bear more of the financial responsibility…she is at the end of her rope as well.  An almost full time position pays for her car payment and cell phone and that’s about it.  And Chickie….well she’s an entirely different entry all in itself.  A major frustration source right now.  She has no clue who she is or what she wants…. and no clue on how to find out….and is hell bent on making those of us who love her miserable as hell while she flounders about.  Volatile is an extreme understatement.

So….I will be OK….but I want to know when I’ll be fine?  Sigh  I’m just venting here.  Thanks for lending an ear (or an eye!)

…and today was school picture day.  Can’t wait to see the look on my forced-smile face when THOSE pictures come in!

Can I offer you a hug? (((hug))) I couldn’t even guess what God is up to these days, but I hope it is all for the best. We are experiencing broke days, too. Take care.

Just skimmed your entry. You might think about refinancing your mortgage with a fixed rate while interest rates are low, if it’s possible. It’s just going to continue to increase your payments as interest rates increase. $100 is incredible! Cheers! (Pedwin, offline)

Those broker than broke days suck big donkey…well, let’s just say they suck! A lot! And then every other (expensive) thing always has to pile on top of them. I don’t get it either!

September 27, 2005

Sending positive thoughts your way!!

September 27, 2005

(((((SW)))))!!! We all love you here and I’m hoping everything starts to look up soon.

September 27, 2005

Yuck. More money worries; just what you need. I don’t blame you for venting, but I wish there was something more I could offer instead of just a warm cyber hug.

September 27, 2005

*hands you 2 really big hugs* sometimes one ain’t enough. 2 probably don’t do much but let you know we care a bunch about you out here.

September 27, 2005

I too wonder when I will be fine, under completely different circumstances. Sometimes I just want to say, “I give up!” I feel for you SW–take good care of yourself!

I hate those forced smiles! Hey, vent away. I may have to join you when my heating bill soars 70% as predicted this winter. According to sources, it’s already been raised (in anticipation) 40%. Isn’t there a law against that or something?

September 27, 2005

Maybe you should just move up to Iowa! I have a huge old house with only me and hubby in it…..LOTS of room. And well yes, it gets cold, snoy, and icy here in the winter…we could ice skate and go sledding or skiing! Lots of schools in the area too…not sure what they pay.(Although I’d venture to say~not enough) Sorry you’re having financial troubles my friend. I love you Too(((((HUGS))))

September 27, 2005

Maybe the Universe is trying to keep you from buying something you shouldn’t? Why are you paying back the insurance company? Isn’t that what you have insurance for? Why isn’t Chickie’s boyfriend paying it ALL back?

September 27, 2005

PS. I hope things get better for you. As one who is perpetually broke, I know how it feels. {{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}

September 27, 2005

hrmm perpetual broke I think I know what that means….. Guess we could stop eating that might save some money, just feed the two gas tanks to get to work, either that Or I can start eating at the jail agian, ugh, jail food = airplane food nasty nasty nasty, but it’s free……….lol Lael. handing you a small belt, that way there is less to tighten, works in theory right?

September 27, 2005

I think School Picture Day is enough to give ANYONE the blues. I thought it was impossible to have any worse pictures taken of me than were taken when I was IN school . . . that was before I WORKED in one. I hope you’re sneaking a little pleasure in here somewhere. I know how demoralizing that *drowning* feeling is that you get when there’s never quite enough of anything.

September 27, 2005

Taxes took your raise? That’s why I hate overtime. Sorry to hear about the brokeness. Could you refinance? I think interest rates are bound to rise. Maybe picture day won’t be so bad. At least it will be over for a year.

September 27, 2005

I’m sorry you’re struggling. That’s really difficult. My mother-in-law was a teacher. She always hated her school pictures until about five years after they were taken. Then she thought they were okay. Hahaha. Now she loves them.

September 27, 2005

*hugs*

September 27, 2005

*hugs* i’m sorry your car died, and i hope the reason for everything eventually becomes apparent. Maybe someday you’ll look back on this (while sitting by the pool in your mansion?) and laugh at how broke you were? I dunno.

September 27, 2005

(hugs)….(HUGS)…(hug)(hug)…(HUG)(hug hug). No doubt about it, these last years carrying the whole load and nothing but the load are very, very tough. Keep edging expenses off of you, refuse to do some things. I refused to go in debt, and that was the proverbial that.

September 27, 2005

I feel you pain. It’s so depressing to work your butt off and still not be able to pay the bills. Why is the universe “conspiring” against us. I think it’s time to gang up on the universe, cause I’m tired of it all! LOL 🙂

September 27, 2005

your pain, not you pain, sheesh, you’d think I never went to school either. 🙂

September 27, 2005

Lack of dosh sure takes the fun out of life – hang in there.

September 27, 2005

a lot of now live with less paycheck than month. It gets hard.

September 27, 2005

{{{{{{{Sunshine Wolf}}}}}}} How comes with the pay raise you get a dollar less than before? That sounds as oxymoronish as virtuous prostitute.

September 28, 2005

More hugs coming your way {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{SW}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} it’ll come around in the end… there’s not a lot else I can say.

September 28, 2005

My sister is coming to my rescue with a short term loan to cover the hydro bill. Yay for sisters who make the big $$. I’ll pay her back, mind you, but yeh, it’s tiring being broke all the friggin’ time. I’m confident it’ll get better. I’ve got to find out where I can cut extras, although my only extravagance is cable tv/internet. With a sigh…

September 28, 2005

Salad Dressing. Further wisdom eludes me, I’m usually the one who requires the baseball bat.

September 28, 2005

Ohhhh yeah, now there’s a picture I want to see. I’d say a middle finger may very well have made it’s way into that one…

September 28, 2005

It’s not fair! (My Pesky Child is stamping her foot very hard down here on your behalf. Did you feel our planet shake?) All I can do is add my hugs and my hope that miracles will quickly happen and your head will soon lift permanently well above this water of financial woes.

September 28, 2005

{{{Big Hugs}}} — I had that paycheck crap, too, where after a 4% raise the increase in deductibles sent my income south. (Cheaper to carry my own “fringe” and be paid as a consultant.) And that insurance mess is awful. Hoping things turn around for the better for you and Chickie.

RYN: Scooter is the name of a DJ who has records under that name, the one I like is his 24 Carat Gold album, just juices the heck of me! But I don’t know what the name stands for, it’s from England so they must have a meaning for it.

September 29, 2005

Whups, I just looked them up online and it says Scooter is from Germany.

September 29, 2005

LOL! Your note really cracked me up! I’d do what you suggested, but I can’t remember where I last saw the little gnome in the red hat. I should have made a note. 😉

September 29, 2005

Yikes. *hugs* at least there wasn’t a hurricane to take your car to the bottom of the atlantic, or gulf or heck, even the pacific! 🙂 tho i wonder what the towing charges would be if it landed in the pacific…. hmm might have to contemplate selling those cakes your class baked online! 🙂

September 29, 2005

PS, we still have folks with no homes, a big pile of mud, and no electric in some of the areas. I was glad to hear on the local news the estuarium is opening saturday. The alligator is fine. Okay, so what about the rest of the people…. A teen ager and her mom came in to get cleaning supplies in the distribution center. The girl took charlotte’s web to read. Said it was her fave!

September 29, 2005

RYN: I’ve put up direct links to the photos on today’s (9/29) entry, so hopefully that will work. If not, just give a holler….

October 2, 2005

PS, we need your help. how the heck can we cook Eggs for 100 people on a grill. I told pastor mike we should hard boil them here at my house first, before we go to mississippi to feed breakfast to the crowd, but he thinks we should be able to make them scrambelled on the grill in some pan somehow. I think he’s loosin it. I know we can do grits, and he wants to do sausage. but Eggs????

October 3, 2005

RYN: I’ve started work on the new version of Yumi’s House. With a smile…

October 5, 2005

looks like i have to bring my own frying pan next time and try that scrambelled on the grill out. What oil do you think would work best? we cook toad’s eggs in olive oil but i don’t like the taste, i’m using smart balance or other non hydrogenated stuff for me. the health book says “learn to like olive oil” but i don’t with eggs. pesky egg allergy and that flavor doesn’t work. but i like it on

October 5, 2005

evil to frog italian thick crusty bread with spices, so go figure. i guess as long as the spices are enough, it’s not so bad. OH! do you know the cheerios and peanutbutter instructions, like rice krispy bars. I can’t find the instructions in my kitchen/ aka not been here enough to find any paper in it easily disaster zone.

October 5, 2005

Am sending you good thoughts !!

October 6, 2005

I think we’re playing on the same financial hardball team. I too keep thinking God’s trying to teach me something. I don’t get it so he shouts louder. Have you refinanced your house recently? I just heard on NPR Saturday that home mortgage rates haven’t gone up yet and you can still get low, low 30 yr. fixed rates. Check it out! You can save a lot of money each month. It only cost me $150

October 6, 2005

which I put on my credit card. All the other closing costs were attached to the mortgage. I made up the $150 in one month’s savings.

October 6, 2005

Wow, I can relate to this! I hope things turn around for you very soon.

October 8, 2005
October 9, 2005

I wholeheartedly admire your commitment to your family and to your career. You have repeatedly gone far beyond the merely “necessary” to help your students. I wished that teachers’ pay was commensurate with their worth, because you would have to be listed as a Fortune 500 Company. Since I can’t help you In Real Life, I can only tender a “Thank You” – but it is sincere.

Sometimes it does feel like the universe is out to get us, maybe it is, and that’s all there is. But as long as we stick together we can make it. Hugs and wishes for the pendulum to swing back the other way for a while.

October 16, 2005

hey girl, you okay? miss ya.. ooxxo

October 16, 2005

Yoohoo! Wolfie! Don’t make me run up my long-distance bill, Woman!

October 18, 2005

Tum-te-tum. With a smile…

October 18, 2005

{{hugs}} hope october is going better for you…

October 18, 2005

Thanks for comin’ by. 🙂 As to the systemic issue, I think you might be right about that. Diabetics are more prone to yeast troubles. Luckily my blood sugar is normalizing, so that should help in the future. YEESH! And speaking og YEESH – looks like you’ve had a dreadful time. 🙁 *HUG*

October 19, 2005

Oh, oh, oh….so damned frustrating to always have a bill chasing your behind! You get one step ahead, and then bam — two steps back. Sorry. Whine on steroids anytime. Bet that school photo might be a little scary, with the gritted-teeth smile! Agggg!!!

October 22, 2005

Been there, still doing that! Good luck.
