Weekend Suprises
I gotta tell you – I always thought the sun rose and set on my boy, Young Stud. He was such a neat kid – very grounded and talented in so many things that I had NO experience in. Compassionate (once he manages to get past that Testosterone Block – lol) and smart and a great teacher for me.
Guess what? My girlie, Chickie, is super-duper, too! All those little glimmers of ‘good stuff’ that have been percolating in her are blossoming! She has the most amazing artistic talent (another one of those areas where I have no experience, darn it all). So far this year they have done 3 huge projects in her art class – and I have yet to get my hands on one to display at home! Her teacher has kept them all to display in various places around the school. Grrrrrr. They are so neat – I want them NOW!!!!!!! And she planned a wonderful surprise for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. She has an amazing perception when it comes to people-who they are and what they’re about. She is loving and caring and fiercely loyal. What a neat kid!
This weekend Chickie kept making me leave the house. I gotta tell you, I started getting annoyed. I just wanted to sit at home and ‘chill’. But no – Saturday I had to go to a craft show with Sis – and then out to lunch with Sis and Mercedes – and then a charity bowling dealie with Mercedes. While I was gone, Chickie totally cleaned out my car. Excavated it! Washed outside and vacuumed and cleaned inside. Even scrubbed the rims!
Sunday I was shooed off to try a new church and then to go see a movie. I was really grumbling. I didn’t want to go do a damn thing more. But when I got home, Chickie had cleaned the house! Polished up all the wood floors, vacuumed, dusted, cleaned…The whole house shone when I walked back into the door!
I gotta give her full credit – not only did she shoo me out the door – but she had apparently spent most of the week planning with my sis to make sure there were plenty of things on the schedule to get me out of the house. Is she an amazing kiddo or what?
Don’t know what I did to deserve two such great kids – but if I’m getting a karmic reward for something I did earlier – I’m all for it!!!!!!!!
One more little thing before I toddle off to finish basking in my “glory”… If you have the opoprtunity to see Bowling for Columbine – please do. Here’s a piece of a publicity blurb for it…
“Bowling for Columbine” was the first documentary film accepted into competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 46 years. The Cannes jury unanimously awarded it the 55th Anniversary Prize. From a look at the Columbine High School security camera tapes to the home of Oscar-winning NRA President Charlton Heston, from a young man who makes homemade napalm with The Anarchist’s Cookbook to the murder of a six-year-old girl by another six-year-old, “Bowling for Columbine” is a journey through America, and through our past, hoping to discover why our pursuit of happiness is so riddled with violence.
Whether or not you agree with Michael Moore – this movie puts forth more thought provoking material in 2 hours than many folks contemplate in their entire lives. It’s things we all need to think about. There are some big surprises there – Who knew that Marilyn Manson (is that how he spells it?) could actually be a sane human being and that dear Chuck Heston (aka Moses) could be such a prick?
Anyway – it’s a ‘must see’ in my book – and I make that recommendation for almost nothing else.
Off my movie critic soap box now….and off to tackle the day…….
Wow!! You are a lucky mom ~smiles~ What you give, comes back to you mom, Great job!! ~hugs~

Aye, it is a very good song.. thanks for the note =) I’d like to see Bowling For Columbine, I watched an interview with Michael Moore the other day, and he was talking about it. They showed the clip where he signed up for an account in a bank & was given a free gun.. Marilyn Manson is a good guy at heart, just like most of us I think. He is just a great attention

seeker, and although some of his songs I enjoyed, he’s not a very good musician.

Michael Moore is my hero–a true populist lefty in the old-fashioned sense. Gotta love him. Well, SANE AND INTELLIGENT people gotta love him . . . Anyway, haven’t seen the movie as yet but plan to. As for your kids–well, they got to be that way somehow, ya know! I wonder HOW, Mom . . .

Can we trade kids for a while? 🙂

i wonder, deep inside, what did dear young Chickie want or do. . .

Pssssttt….”All the art we make is practice, the real art, is our lives.” *Beams you a big smile* See, you are an artist after all!!!! Uh-huh, yup you are!!!! That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it! What a wonderful gift our children are…eh? ((((((((Wolfie))))))))) I love you sweetie, glad you had such a great weekend. YAY!

Artistic talent seems to skip generations. And, we get these great kids to compensate for the parents we had. At least, in my case, that is the reason. I totally wanted to see BFC even before you mentioned it. Now, I simply must make time for it. I guess I will forego a night of sex (*gasp) — or maybe I will just NOT study one night! Now THAT is a fair trade! 🙂

As moms…we rant and rave when our children get into mischief….wondering if maybe we, as moms did something wrong..then they turn around and surprise you…simply out of love and compassion. I believe it is the loving teachings of a mother that leaves the biggest impact of them all! What a wonderful thing for her to do…You’re worth it!! Hugs and Loves!

I liked Heston when I was young and didn’t know his stand on certain things. I’ve no respect for the man any more. By the way, I don’t suppose I could borrow Chickie to help with all the rooms I have to empty and clean? With a hopeful smile…
