Creativity Crisis…Calling All Ideas!!!!!!!!

I just decided to attend a huge Halloween costume party with a group of women. So HERE’s the challenge… I need a quick, easy and CHEAP Halloween Costume! Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Well my creative juices are all dried up and I’m asking for suggestions.

(I gotta admit – I am asking with some trepidation…since I know some of you so well…and let me just say that NO, I won’t go as THAT!)

Doesn’t need to be elaborate – I’m only going because this is one of the largest parties in the area and they give away really BIG prizes (like trips to the Bahamas) for best costume and I want to see what lengths the serious competitors go to, to win those prizes!

However (and you knew there would be a however, didn’t you??) I am long past my sleezy costume prime… Too much me all around now to entertain that. I also do not want something too “old” cause I’m not dead yet.

OK – I’m starting to put too many rules……..I need suggestions!!! Help, help, help!!!!!!!!!!!

prizes? trips? Ooo… that sounds fun.. i wanna go! 🙂 ideas? hmmm.. i’ve had a hard enough time lately trying to find anything creative to write, let alone trying to come up with a prize winning idea for a costume. let me go think…. i’ll check back later to see what your other readers come up with. btw, when is it?

Silent Bob

My favorite has always been the “going postal” outfit- rent a postal uniform (usually easy to do) and a fake gun. Spray paint a bunch of toilet paper cores red and stick some black yarn in the tops then string ’em together and wrap them around yourself. Usually gets a laugh or two. Or you could wrap yourself in toilet paper or paper towels cut in long strips and go as a mummy. C

C.. or combine those two and go as a postal mummy. What might be cute is to make yourself a mummy then wrap some large dolls in the same wrappings and carry them around, calling yourself the Mother Mummy. (hey, I’m an idea guy…they can’t all be winners….-Jeff

A Mommie Mummy – cute! hehe

brown paper fromwalmart if you can’t find grocery paper bags and fill it with paper images of mac and cheese boxes you paint up quickly, and go as a sac of comfort food or you can go as cabbage head get it, or lettuce head in the bag of whatever else you put in there. OR just paint up mac and cheese. YOu can do silver lame wrap on hula hoop and go as hershey kiss. or white and go as their HUGs

you can do big hair and go as a reporter, press badge and or hat with Press on it, and notebook or palm pilot and that pager thing, what is it they are calling it, clickits, there’s some newish word for the habitual text pager folks who type in and send their reports in by text pager or palm seven, tiny things they are now. 🙂 click addicts

it deleted my hooker dorthy idea. Hmm. big poster with master card circles on them, make up one of their type ads, fabulous red hair with curls. 300 dollars, dress. whatever dollars a dress is, An evening with wolfie, priceless!!!!! JUST Weaqr BIG BOOTS!!!!!! *Grin* or go as my doc in needlepoint scrubs!

Cool ideas…I met hubby at a costume halloween party…I was a Christmas tree! I am writing down all these other ideas for future costumes….really creative people out there! Hey, hey….let me know what you come up with! With Love, Hey, hey…

I like going to good will and buying an old man’s suit. I make a great looking old man if I do say so myself. 🙂

Toga baby! Not too original…HOWEVER…it’s low-sleaze, comfy, and everyone looks divine in a well-draped sheet. You can tie up with some gold tassel rope from the fabric store and put some grooy gold leaves and vines in your hair. Okay, so it probably won’t win you any trips, but maybe, just maybe it could win you some Halloween chocolate! Yip! ~:D ArtImp, nsi

Be a movie theatre floor! get a black sweatsuit and stick chewed gum (under tape so it doesn’t get everywhere), candy wrappers, a pop cup or two, and candy boxes all over yourself. Besides, then you can eat all the candy in order to get the wrappers 🙂 or be a card. Two pieces of posterboard, make them sandwich board style and put a 2 of hearts on em or something. Good luck!

This truly isn’t my idea, but how about a Freudian slip? Get a big slip (one that covers you well) and write stuff on it–like, “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar,” etc. Or you could go as a kernel of popcorn–cotton puff balls glued on everywhere. Or, I went as a “manic princess” to a party last year–outlandishly mixed clothing (it was a bit on the sleazy side, since manics are usually {cont’d}

inappropriate, but doesn’t have to be; just needs to be outlandish–the worst color combos and mismatched clothing pieces you can think of), and RED lipstick painted all over my mouth in a vague attempt to follow my natural lip lines. Over the top eye shadow and blusher and take a bunch of old prescription bottles, put them in a clear baggie, haul them around with you–just like a real manic!

Was impressed by a special mall store last year that was devoted to Halloween costumes and stuff. If there’s a sizable shopping mall near you, it might pay to check it out

Last year at work a friend was a killer bank machine (ATM). She had a cardboard box big enough to cover most of her body except for the legs. She covered the box in silver coloured tissue paper, made a screen with a bank logo, buttons, & the slots for bank card & money dispenser. Then we used Monopoly money splashed fake blood on the money & the machine & taped them money all around the….

…the front of the machine (box) to make it seem like it ate someone who tried to make a withdrawal. Add a couple of bloody hand prints & wear black pants to finish off the look. The other idea was to be a bunch of grapes (purple, red, or green) by using blown up balloons pinned to a big t-shirt or garbage bag (cut out holes for head & arms). Make a green felt hat & makeup. *hugs* {Ainekate nsi)

There’s a saying here when you want a cuppa tea “Put the kettle on love” and I have always wanted to make a kettle outfit with a sign on saying “put the kettle on love”, however that goes against your ‘simple’ stipulation. How about a tarot card? I know,a pair of glasses and a scar on your forhead, then you can be Harry Potter! Good luckand tell us all about it.

Go as Washerwoman Tuppence. Heheheheh. With a sunny grin…T the U

Darth Brooks- urban cowboy outfit complete with jeans, boots, big belt buckle and black hat with a Darth Vader mask….Not my idea but one I thought was cute and is fairly simple given that most people have jeans, etc. Years ago, when they had costume days for Halloween at work, I would joke that I was going to… a note for you (nsi)

…show up as a “professional” (degree brandishing, suit wearing, briefcase carrying). LOL Just another example of my offbeat sense of humor. Then of course you could always be a large roll of bubble wrap. 🙂 A note for you (nsi)

One more thought, go as yourself but dressed up your best with a note on your back that says “I’m -insert name of beautiful young star that has same coloring (such as Britney Spears or J. Lo or whoever)- twenty years, two kids, one failed marriage and xx pounds of chocolate later”. 🙂 “A note for you” (nsi)

sounds like some good ideas here! Sorry I haven’t any to contribute, kinda braindead here! LOL ~hugs~

sew some socks, panties and things like that onto some clothes and be static cling 🙂

oh that static cling idea is GREAT! 🙂 Ribbit, love ya too frog girl in green and frog t-shirt says. Now i went up and down the stairs so i’m exercizing so i can come eat mac and cheese. 9 flights up and down so how many spoonfulls do i get for that? 🙂 ribbit oh yea and i splashed my feet around in the pool, but i am not allowe dto go in yet. HUGS! Hoppy Frog day!

just take a broomstick and a black hat…maybe carry a pumpkin handbag…they will know the wisest old crone has come to weave her magic on the unsuspecting guest…chuckles and loves you lots.

hmmm…well, I remember one year for work…I decided to “dress up” too…which I never do. I was trying to figure out what I could wear…so, I decided to go as NIGHT/DAY…in other words…the left side, I wore….a bathrobe, curlers..one slipper…and on the right..I wore a skirt(sewn together with the robe)…had my hair done (just one side)…and makeup….you get the idea! LOL Loves!

how about a credit card using poster board or go as a crayon. The crayon might take a lot of work though. You would get a coloured sheet or something and then make a cone hat in the same colour out of poster board. One year I went to a party as a bag of garbage. I got a garbage bag and glued garnbage to the outside of it. and made a twited top for a hat.
