Carpet Cleaning
How, please tell me how, can a little tiny toy poodle who cant weigh 5 pounds with all her fur soaking wet produce so much poo? And, just in case anyone wants to know the absolute best medium for showing off poo and pee stains is a light sherberty green short pile carpet. I bet youll all sleep easier tonight for knowing that, wont you?
What brought on this spewing of helpful trivia, you ask? Yesterday morning I went over to Ts house to help her mother get ready for the influx of pre-funeral relatives that were due to arrive that afternoon. My big task was to clean the carpets that little miss Fluffy (the afore-mentioned tiny puddle I mean poodle) had been busy turning into a puppy waste product garden with poo-blossoms and pee ponds. I like gardens but this one had to go!
I was armed with my handy-dandy carpet shampooer an item that I had bought because my own beloved pooch, Blossom, has a gardeners heart at times as well. We bought the super duper ridiculously large humongous economy size bottle of a product called Petzyme (which is mah-velous and the makers of said product can send me endorsement $$ now) and I set to shampooing. It took me 4 complete passes and uncountable scrubbing mini-sessions, as well as numerous passes with the vacuum to get the carpet into some state of cleanliness. I wouldnt pronounce the carpet CLEAN. I think that even the pros at Stanley Steamer would have a tough time reaching that lofty goal, but at least the carpet is no longer growing poo sprouts and is more sherberty green than brown and yellow.
It took me 5 hours. Now before you award me the Iron Woman of Carpet Cleaning award that youre all polishing up, please realize that there were frequent breaks. Around lunchtime some of Ts moms co-workers came by with food, supplies, money and a card. Their choices of things to bring showed a remarkable thoughtfulness and the entire mission reflected a great group of wonderfully caring people. A little later, a couple of church members dropped by. Again very supportive, very caring people. Ts mom and I also took breaks to talk. We talked about our kids, our lives, her husband, funeral plans and what a pain in the rear families can be even when they have the best of intentions.
All of this gave me cause to think. Ts mom obviously has many caring in her sphere. How blessed she is. It made me reflect on my status. I have no co-workers. I miss that, for sure. I dont have a lot of friends here most of mine are in other cities. I dont go to church. (this is a conscious decision with sound reasons). If I were to have a similar type of emergency what resources outside of myself would I have to draw on? Taking that a step further if I feel that Id like a wider circle, how do I grow it? I dont have the answers yet but I do have a lot to think about.
I have some major carpet cleaning needed over here, not from pet stains, just kid stains. You going to be in this area soon? 🙂

Have assorted size corks. Postage no problem. Your problem is solved! If you live in USA and can easily travel over the borde to Mexico you are ssoooooooooo lucky whereas for me it is a very difficult thing to ever do again! But I can vicariously enjoy my travel there by writing the lowest cost way. Alex

for 5 hours of cleaning, your kids better be kissing their mom extra nice and behaving like halo-clad cherubs! hugs. spilled milk sucks, but think about it. its better than spilled blood!

Support is such a wonderful thing. I felt completely unsupported and unclear and unloved yesterday, so I wrote about it (privately) and stated “I need support. I need clarity. I need love.” Then, I called my best friend who, despite being at work, was available. Then I talked to another friend today and met a new client who I want to make into a friend. Sometimes the Universe just wants us to ask.

When we lost everything in the fire 3 months ago we were astounded at the response from people we barely knew, complete strangers and friends. Also equally astounded at the lack of response from people we thought would be there for us.

it is amazing how not working and not being ” affiliated ” tends to isolate us . but if you read your past entries and see the people you have touched , there you’ll find the ones who will be there when you need them AND you have touched lives.

When i first moved to Florida they had an incontinent poodle… believe me, I know. It was a blessing the day he took his last trip to the vets. As for your circle of friends.. you could join a writing group *cheeky grin*. How is that going anyway?

Hmmm. You become or are a caring person and so you grow your circle – Just like you have with T’s mom. And because of her you may meet others you like or feel comfortable with. But I know what you mean I have a tiny circle of close friends and the rest are co-workers who I socialise with. When you take away the co-wrkrs my circle is very small. 😉

Good point. I have a multitude of acquaintances here. I wonder how many would rally ’round in an emergency. Here’s hoping I never need to find out. With a smile…Torin, sneaking in from that other OD

yum sherbert. lime. my favorite. minus the droppings. Okay this is just enough cheery wallpaper and flowers to make me think that you have had a fox mulder encounter and you are really the replacement. where’s the purple spandex and sparkles. i’m about to puke. 🙂 RIBBIT!

I have a dog that is only 1/4 poodle, but she still ruined a good carpet all by herself. Purchasing a Bissell steam cleaner was the smartest thing I’ve done…other than drowning the cutey petoodie! *holding nose*
