In Search of a Bridge

I am looking for a bridge. I’d like a bridge with character. Those lovely covered wooden bridges are so picturesque. I love looking at them. How can you not feel the ‘rightness’ of the world when traveling one of those bridges? Ah, but rightness is not what I’m feeling right about now, so perhaps a different sort of bridge would be better.

There is a bridge in Florida – the Sunshine Skyway. I always felt as if I was actually up in the sky when crossing that bridge and floating among the clouds. If you look either left or right, all you see is the sun dancing across the water, making it look for all the world as if sparkling diamonds had been scattered across a blue gossamer tablecloth. Anything is possible from way up there. Soaring with the eagles is more than just a possibility. Swimming with the dolphins is expected rather than exceptional. I’m not feeling like soaring right now, nor am I feeling exceptional. I guess this isn’t the proper bridge either.

How about those rope suspension bridges? You know the ones – straight out of an Indiana Jones movie. Makes you feel sort of like an Indian princess or a dare-devil explorer. I cross one of those and my mind goes back to much younger days and the make believe stores roll into my mind and the play-acting begins. No, this is too serious for a child’s games.

There are some lovely little stone bridges in the Cotswolds, across swan-dotted streams in fairy-tale villages where the streets are lined with English cottages. Oh the stories those bridges could tell. No postcard can adequately capture the flavor. I am sure that faeries dance across those bridges in the moonlight. But I have already throw my dancing shoes over the side and they’re long gone. Wrong bridge again.

Oh, and railroad bridges. The sound the train makes as it goes over those bridges is like no other. I could listen to that sound forever as it lulls me into a trance. It’s not sleep, exactly, but rather a deep meditative reverie. It’s restful and calming. It is impossible to imagine that anything could go wrong when you feel like that. Nope, that’s not it either. Right now, it’s more difficult to imagine that anything could go right.

Well, I’ve about gone through my entire repertoire of bridges – and not a damn one of them suitable for jumping off of. Guess I’ll have to look for another solution……unless of course any of you can think of a more appropriate bridge?

How about the bond of love bridged between friends as an alternative? **HUGS**

You can’t look before you leap. Every good froggie knows that. I’m sure Mrs. Wolfie you know that too. Now listen darlin, how ’bout you and me go hop on the bridge at the zoo… they have one don’t they?

Or is that leap before you look, never did get that one right, or left. Those lilypads don’t mind tho, but the fish sometimes do. They get down right ornery when you hop in their territory. *hugs*

I guess this is _Not_ the time to tell you about us kids jumping off a bridge in south florida right into a huge canal with a fence at the bottom that ripped our toes. HEY no jumping off bridges! *hugs*

I heard there was a bridge in Madison County. Might want to check that one out. 😉

Well we have a bridge over our little stream – care to come and inspect it?

or the bridge of hands , waiting to hold yours when you need it . thanks for yr note , so right 🙂

those pretty bridges you brought to my head are not for jumping… maybe you just need a trampoline. be well Sunshine!

Those damned bridges between two life points have to be built step by step as you go dear. Rarely do we find preassembled bridges to cross when the road is long and lonely. Remember the bridge of friendship is always here.

I love the beautiful picture you paint of the bridges…and if you want one to jump off of, I have the perfect one…it’s a part of my son’s Lego collection and you won’t get hurt if you use IT! Hugs…

One of those bridges over a pool in Vegas sounds kind of nice, the kind where you swim over to the bar. Chill amiga,

I love this beautiful essay on bridges — it’s multidimensional and takes you far away. No doubt you feel like finding a bridge to a better place, and you will, not like those politicians who keep building a bridge to the future.

beautifully written…i can even hear your weariness and self-deprecating laughter..bridges make wonderful links between friends..and hope and understanding…we’re here, SW…*hugs*

Arnt bridges fascinating..brigdes over water, between people. but my fav, is the bridge between the heart and the soul. And if we get the traffic of our thoughts in unison with our spirits. What glory awaits.

I think Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon have that bridge you’re looking for. XOXO

Bridges are meant to connect places, to reach new ground..jumping off means you never reach that place..there are plenty of hands to hold Hugz.

If you find just the right bridge, you may also discover a parachute. Blessed Be,

Hi Sunshine~How bout if I reach my hands waaaaay out to meet yours? Now THERE’S a bridge for ya. Grins & Hugs~

Don’t you know that wolves and bridges don’t mix? And what’s this about jumping off of one? Huh? Details! I want details, Ms. Corporate Babe!

Okay, whatever it is making you want to jump off a bridge I hope it goes away and you feel less like jumping and more like crossing one soon.:) Love + Hugs,

What’s even more fun than sharing the same diary is sharing the same body and mind!!! Go figure!! {{{hee hee}}}

I like the fallen log bridge

Thank you for your kind note to me! Please don’t jump off a bridge! {{{{{HUG}}}}}

Bridges can be so interesting. I love to see the different types.

Sports are fun, but they should not be a matter of life or death. This in response to your kind note.

Hi S.W.! Want bridge company?? Kidding…I swear. Lucky for me I don’t have to take 285 much of anywhere. But I can work you up a helluva rant if you like! Thanks for stopping in. ~:)

Oh my, Sunshine Wolf – don’t forget to fasten the straps real tight – for that bungie cord….before you drop off that bridge. Sending warmth and pleasant thoughts your way.

I rather favour a bridge not too high from the water, with a deep, slow moving body of water just perfect for swimming on a summer day. With a smile…Torin (unsigned again)

Thanks, sweet Sunshine, for your kind note… I hope that all the hands that have reached for yours in these notes convince you that you have a bridge to cross rather than one to leap from… extending mine too…

We can make a bridge with all of our hearts and all of our hands…..and that bridge will keep you safe and out of harms way….thanks for your response…i read this and found a favorite…

“run to me when you feel lonely…come to where you’re safe and warm…run to me if you need holding…there will be a place…in these open arms…” ~Kristen Hall ( I LOVE MUSIC )

I like the note that said something about bridge between friends or the fallen log one- but it can’t be more than a foot off the ground & there has to be a muddy puddle all around in which to jump into. LOL.

Sorry. Not much help here but feel better soon, K?

How about the bridge between two friends, such as you and I! I enjoy your humor and spontaneity, and you are a damn talented lady!!! So jump off and I’ll catch you in mid air!!! Trust me!!
