Early Morning Storms

2:30 in the morning

The thought demons swirl

Rejecting the serenity

The heart and soul seek

A savage beast prowls

That no music can soothe

And the thought demons swirl

Later now and still rages

The storm before the calm

The best cries out for succor

Yet there is nothing in the night

To stem the rising tide

Or offer safe harbor

From the storm before the calm

Scant minutes to bloated hours

The storm dictates the dance

The pace cannot be borne

But the alternative is no option

Look, but it will not be found,

That sweet honey in the rock

For the storm dictates the dance

Early and late merge and all is as one

The best and the storm are one and the same

There is power in the beast

And energy in the storm

The harness fragile but whole

Give some measure of control

To the beast and the stormÂ….who are one and the same

Wow. I love it. It hits a familiar chord. Peace and strength.

wow, Sunshine! So beautifully written and so provocative…the beast rages within each of us, doesn’t it. And the thought demons…best kept at bay? or ridden, harnessed, through the stormy night?

How pretty, how thought provoking… Good Job Sunshine!

Sunshine, you got me right where I’m living! Thanks for the visit and note.

Wow! Sunshine, what an apt description for those inchoate thoughts that swirl in the night: thought demons! Thank you for sharing your poetic thoughts. They speak to many of us.

Boss Lady..you are talented and blessed with more..this was so apt and so true…loved it!

I’m well aquainted with the Thought Demons! Very nice entry!

Beautiful, my dear, simply beautiful! The way I figure it, my wedding pictures should be worth a fortune with all the men in the wedding party dressed in kilts!

Very powerful poem. Thank you for sharing it. I will be thinking of this poem and your feelings as I travel my path today. Tonight, I will write.

I was there with you, feeling your heart beat. Knowing the rages of your spirit. Fantastic.

If you could magically control that thought demon, do you think you would? I love storms! The only storms we get this time of year are snow, or ice. I’ll pass on both, thanks. 🙂

Wonderfully written and heartfelt. Thank you for this gift.

Did you mean “the beast cries out for succor?”. Liked the poem a lot.

This is really good. I think all try at some point in our lives to tame the beast within and without. BTW, I would never mind being called Willow–what a gracious lady. Her note above yours put her in your mind.
