Theme Entry – Sibling Favorites

I really do want to write more often but I don’t really know where to start.  I feel like my life is so completely different now than what it used to be when I wrote more. 

So, I’m starting with a theme entry.  Forgive my typing/spelling.  I’m holding Natalie so typing with one hand. 😉

This week’s question:

Did your parents ever play favorites with you and your siblings? If so, why do you think that is? If not, do you think it helped or hindered you in anyway?

I don’t know that my parents every really did "favorites" but they definitely loved me and my brother differently.  Sometimes it seemed that my dad favored my brother and my mom favored me but I think it was more that my dad did more "boy" things and my mom did more "girl" things.  My dad would take my brother to baseball and basketball and my mom would take me to gymnastics and shopping.  I don’t know that it helped or hindered me but there were times that I definitely wished my dad would take me places and that I felt a little distanced from my dad.  I do think that it’s changed the way I’m parenting my kids though.  I will be going out of my way to be sure that my husband is doing as much with Natalie as he does with Gavin.  And I’m going to make sure I do "boy" things with Gavin as well.
