tired of dealing with sickness
Gavin has had a slew of health problems since the last time I wrote. Actually, I honestly don’t remember if I’ve written about it or not. But he’s been seeing a pulmonary specialist for chronic coughing and wheezing. He was diagnosed with reflux right away, so at least it’s not something worse (I hope). They’ve done a few tests on him. He’s had two chest xrays (one of those two in the ER when he woke up gasping for air) and both of them have been clear. He had croup in the ER. I HATE croup. He got over that really quickly at least. He’s also had a barium swallow test to see if he has an anatomical abnormalities that would be causing the reflux. That came back fine but did reconfirm the reflux diagnosis as he did reflux while taking the test. He was put on zantac three times a day and a nebulizer treatment once a day, just in case he has any asthma along with the reflux. We didn’t see ANY improvement with the zantac so he’s been to a gastro specialist now too. She ordered a stomach xray because his belly was very distended too. The stomach xray showed he’s very constipated (which is weird because he has one or two dirty diapers every day) so now he’s on mirilax once a day for that. And she wants him on prevacid so we’re starting that tonight too. Along with the tylenol to keep him comfortable (doctor ordered) because he’s teething AND his stomach hurts from the constipation and reflux. And all the while all of this has been going on (for weeks and weeks) he’s had cold after cold and never stops coughing. And therefore never sleeps well and I’ve been up every hour or two trying to get him comfortable. I’m just sooo tired of it all. I just want my baby to be healthy. Oh, and he’s also had flare up after flare up of eczema. This week has been terrible for him. He’s been super fussy at daycare and he’s refusing to drink bottles. He’ll eat baby food but he’s just flat out refusing to drink. 🙁
*sigh* Sorry, I barely post and then when I come in I lay a long vent out on you guys.
On a different topic… he’s finally rolling over. Sometimes. He turned 8 months on Saturday and he started rolling over from his back to his belly on Friday. I think he just didn’t want to be the 8 month old baby who couldn’t roll over. 😉
We were up at my parents over the weekend. I saw a friend I haven’t seen or spoken to in probably 11 years. We had a BIG falling out. She’s my parents next door neighbor and just had a baby. So we’ve been talking on facebook a little bit and she came over with her baby and to see Gavin. It was a little weird but just so nice to see her. 🙂
I suppose, I should probably get going. Gavin’s been sleeping in his carseat since we got home from daycare. I need to give him his medicine 30 minutes before he eats so if I don’t give it to him soon he’s going to be starving by the time he can eat.
I hope you guys are all doing well. 🙂
