baby shower #1

Well, we had the baby shower in IN over the weekend.  It was a lot of fun!  🙂  I really really wish someone from my side of the family could have been there, but it just didn’t work out.  But it was still a lot of fun.  And we got quite a bit of stuff that we need… but only a few things off of our registry.  We are set for diapers for a little bit… maybe a week or two at least. 😉  And we got a mobile and a sound machine and a crib rail toy thingy for the nursery.  We got lots of little toys and rattles and some pacifiers.  Surprisingly we got almost no clothes!  And the clothes we did get were just plain white onesies and a few t-shirts.  So we still have absolutely no newborn clothes except for the one outfit I bought.  I’m hoping maybe at the shower in my home town we’ll get a few more outfits.  We also didn’t get any of the bigger stuff yet…  mainly the car seat is a big one.  And I need the breast pump but I’m totally expecting to pay for that ourselves since it’s so expensive.  I just put it on the registry to get the discount when it’s close to my due date.  Oh, and we don’t have any bottles or crib sheets.  So still have quite a bit of stuff we need to get! 

I went to throw the blanets and burp clothes and onesies that we got into the dryer today (since I’m impatient and had to wash them right away) and the dryer started making this terrible loud grinding squealing sound.  It was really bad!  So Ben is downstairs right now picking out a new washer and dryer…  I get so stressed out money wise on that kind of stuff that I just told him to do it and to get a decent one that doesn’t break us.  Sucks that we just had the roof done and the check for that hasn’t even cleared the bank yet and now we have to buy something else.  But it will be sooo nice to have a new washer and dryer that works well and doesn’t take three hours to dry a load of towels! 

I have a doctor appt tomorrow.  He’s supposed to be deciding if I can go back to work or not.  At this point, I kind of want him to decide to not send me back because I just found out today that my boss hired a temp who’s starting in a few days to replace me until March when I get back from maternity leave.  I’d feel really strange calling up my boss and telling her I can come back to work when they JUST hired someone to replace me.  That and I’m still having contractions whenever I get up and move around.  And just in the last couple of days my feet and ankles have started swelling really bad whenever I’m on my feet.  So I don’t know.  I’m hoping I can sway him into keeping me on bed rest even though it’s boring.  😉
