New Mexico: Week Nineteen

So right now I’m sitting in the train at the station in Albuquerque waiting for it to get moving back to Santa Fe so I can go back to Abiquiu.

My vacation was pretty fucking rad this year. I had a great time (and yes Ilene it WAS on the 2nd… thank you for the note:))

Did the whole train ride to Albuquerque last Wednesday the 1st… had to be on the road by 6am so I got up at 445 to make sure I was up and ready to go. Took the train, got on the bus and made it to the airports… I forgot how jittery I get when I havent flown in awhile. I got over it pretty quickly though. Landed in Manhattan late (hour delay at DFW) and as soon as I got there I was greeted with a welcome party!!! I didnt have my camera on me so I couldnt take pictures but they had made welcome home signs… I felt the love.

Went home to unpack, then went to the mall where I got my roomie his belated birthday present: Versace Por Homme… and I got myself Versave Eau Fraiche (because I only had one cologne in NM and it was pretty god awful: Polo Sport) and I took some things in that I needed to exchange/return.

Did dinner at Coco Bolos and some drinks at O’Malley’s that night (quick interruption: the train just took off and since its called the New Mexico Rail Runner – it makes the "meep meep" sound that the Road Runner made from the Warner Bros cartoons… super cute)

Thursday morning, went to my eye appointment, picked out some new frames which wound up costing me an arm and a leg and then went to renew my ID, then went to The Chef with friends for lunch, I love that place so much! After that I just chilled out and got dressed and ready for my birthday dinner at Houlihan’s. That went over very well, and out I went again but to celebrate my birthday (I got some really funny gag gifts this year and an "Over The Hill" cake complete with tombstones

Friday I was lazy, mainly to recover from the night before, had a late lunch with a girl from work and then I stuck around to do some food cost stuff for my property. Sarah rolled into town around this time and picked me up, so we went to the eye doctor’s so I could pick up my glasses ($450 later) went to Carlos O’Kelly’s, had some margs, went out to Colbert Hills for a little bit, then got ready and went out for a bit. Didn’t get too crazy on Saturday

Sunday – I went to Fort Riley with my roomie Eric to meet his parents and have lunch, then came home and I went to meet up with my married friends Adam and Emily who came down from KC to see me- then pregamed at my place before we went out and got pretty ridiculous… but it was fun 🙂

Monday – had lunch with the Hilleys (married couple) packed, and got ready to fly back to NM- I had an hour and a half layover at DFW and 3 friends of mine that live down there met me at the airport with effen Chick Fil-A, it was so good!

Now I’m back in Abiquiu feeling sicker than a dog but I blame all the drinking, lack of sleep, and changes in weather and altitude. I’m listening to the new Interpol album that just came out today, so far so good. 50 days till my Dallas vacation. Super excited!

Now some pictures!

What I looked like when I finally landed at Manhattan Regional on Sept 1st… looking like a ton of shit – I immediately went to my barber for a touch up 🙂

Post touch up at dinner with my new roomie Eric

Thursday night, pre birthday dinner… my outfit for the night 🙂

The dinner group for my birthday… I had such a great time at dinner! (PS- this is at my old restaurant in Manhattan)

Friday night fun, with Sarah (check out the new specs!)

Saturday night after a long day of tailgating… I met Winnie the Pooh!

Sunday Funday with Sarah 🙂

ALSO- I bought the complete Will and Grace series from Amazon and had it sent to my apartment in Manhattan… I sent it to Wichita with Sarah since I’ll probably be staying with her over the winter.

And last but not least – September 7th of 2006 was when I got my DUI… look at me now!

I got new glasses yesterday…$308. it’s those f*cking lenses that cost so damn much. My insurance took off $100 off the frame (leaving me with $40 to pay) and then lens crafters has some kind of deal where they take 40% off the lenses if you have EyeMed (which I do) so…It would have been more like $500..cause I’m so f*cking blind. I needs some thin ass lenses cause they get so heavy.

you have always had expensive taste. I got the polycarbonate too. The next thinnest were 2x more expensive. I think my frames are DKNY but I’m not certain without looking…and I won’t get them for 10 business days because they had to order those b*tches.
